What causes delirium tremens? Is this always an indicator of alcoholism? What can you do to treat it? Is it dangerous? Thanks.

I feel a lot times googling things like this is so much faster and easier than taking the time to make a thread and wait for replies.

delerium tremens are a withdrawal symptom of many drugs that affect our gaba. they're like a living nightmare once they're in full gear.

if they're coming up once you're stopping alcohol, then chances are they are a symptom of alcoholism. the first step to treating them is to get medical attention.

If you're having DTs, get medical attention. Seriously. The DTs are not to be f'd with. Inpatient detoxes are covered by most insurances. You don't want to start having seizures. I know you didn't ask for advice, but for the sake of harm reduction, I'm offering it. Hope everything works out okay for you (that is if you're having DTs... maybe you just posted the question out of curiosity).
