Anyone else been diagnosed with DSPS/DSPD?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_sleep_phase_disorder

I've been taking Agomelatine for this and my depression and it's been a great help, though I vouched to myself to make 2014 a drug-free year with regards to my medications.

It's only 6 days into January and I've started suffering massively without medication. I'm pretty much on a 4AM to 12PM cycle within just a few days of going medication free. I'm going to start back on the Agomelatine tonight because it's made studying for my masters pretty tough.

Agomelatine just gives me very fucked up dreams, though it works a treat.

Anyone else out there been diagnosed with this? How do you cope? What do you take?

No I haven't actually, it was my Psych who prescribed me the Agomelatine because it mimics melatonin, but never tried melatonin itself.

Took 25mg Agomelatine last night at 9PM and it instantly gave me very lucid dreams again which I find frustrating to sleep with. I think I'll give melatonin a try instead... thanks for the suggestion spacejunk :)

I find that if I get strenuous exercise it helps combat the delay and sleep much harder and am able to achieve the correct sleep phases in a much more natural timing. Melatonan helps, wearing sunglasses after seven PM and then using a blue therapy light in the morning. The combination of all these has had an amazing impact on my sleep and my life and i would recommend doing all of them. Best wishes as the delayed sleep and circadian rhythm issues I had have had the most negative impact on my life and i hope you can experience the relief I have found.

Yeah melatonin is dirt cheap and endogenous, funny the psych just gave you something expensive.

I have serious insomnia. On a nor.al dayiI get about 4 hours then stay up for a day or two

This leads to major problems with my schitso-affective disorder

I have taken a whole box of zzzquil, whole bottle of unisom, trazadone350mg, and now they have me on klonapins.

Nothing works... Except a good shot of thorzine.

I suffered with this for a long time and made it difficult working a 9 to 5 type job. My doctor had prescribed modafinil during the day and temazepam for sleep and switched up meds a few times. Trouble is, after time your body gets adjusted to medications and found myself back to square one every time. I've been off all meds since losing my health insurance though I did try 10 mg melatonin recently.

The melatonin worked great for almost a week, then it had no effect on me at all. I make myself go to bed by midnight, latest 1 am and after 3 1/2 to 4 hours I am wide awake. I don't nap during the day, use zero caffeine and eating healthy. I'm starting to believe it's not delayed-sleep phase anymore, more like just can't sleep for very long. It's very frustrating! :!

I started taking my melanotan at seven and this has worked out pretty good so far.. I get pretty tired if i dont go to be by eight or so but it seems to allow me to get into the sleep phase at a good time and i woke up today feeling great a little after seven am.. this is really weird for me.. it is in conjunction with using the blue therapy light in the morning and also wearing sunglasses after seven and practicing really good sleep hygiene. But when I was taking the melatonin later I was waking up feeling groggy and unawake. I hope this is the ticket I have been looking for for years..
