Hello,

I have some questions regarding d2 receptors and cocaine recovery. I used cocaine for the last 18 month (more or less 1-1.5g, sometimes 3g per week) in combination with a lot of alcohol and smoking...
I discovered, that I have ADHD and began treatment with methylphenidate and vyanse. Both failed. I get extremely dysphoric on both stimulants. Focus, Attention is pretty much improved but I cant
stand the dysphoric effects. Could it be, that this dysphoric effects are due to massive d2 receptor down-regulation ? I get the same dysphoric effect with cocaine now...

Someone a clue ? Is it really because of the d2 receptor being down regulated causing an inappropriate imbalance between d1 and d2 receptor or what else could it be ?

Thx

Well I can offer my thoughts...

Maybe an average of 1.5g per week, let's say 1.0g per week of pure cocaine?

17% being coveted to cocaethylene

24% being converted to cocaethylene

12.9%-15% " "

So on average, 18.3%.

183mgs cocaethylene and 817mg cocaine per week.

cocaethylene is ~ half as potent

BUT, it has a longer duration of effect. And people go for that. Typical night-time regimens for too many people these days to have several drinks and use cocaine at the same time.

So you used about 14g of cocaethylene, a long lasting, potent stimulant, in the past 18 months. You also used, over that time period, over 63g of cocaine (which I may have been somewhat liberal in estimating a high purity, but still).

You shouldn't be taking stimulants. Anybody who uses that much coke and drinks that much will exhibit symptoms of ADHD for a long time afterwards. The fact that you get dysphoric is a red flag that means you should stay away from all stimulants for a very long time. And you're still using coke? C'mon man.

It's your brain telling you to stop throwing it around, in my opinion.

No, I don´t use cocaine anymore. I quiet when I was diagnosed ADHD. I then began treatment. I was just asking why do I get dysphoric reactions from stimulants, I would like to know the receptors involved in this. I was ADHD long before I began using cocaine. I only used it for about 18 month, prior to that I didn´t even smoke.

That's the point though. Long-term stimulant abuse leads to people having symptoms of ADHD whereas they don't actually have ADHD but are recovering from abusing stimulants.

Again, you're assaulting your brain with something that clearly isn't good for it. Knowing the biochemical mechanism won't help you here, and could lead to dangerous decisions based on an imprecise science. Please forget the science and listen to your brain.

What's your proof? No point in fibbing.

18 months is a long time when it comes to abusing cocaine on that level.

Prior to abusing coke I was diagnosed as having adhd I just never took medication. Belive me I know how adhd feels and having abused coke just worsened everything. I don't feel that bad at all, a little anhedonia but nothing terrible. I think I will be fine in 3-6 month. I think the best would be to delay amphetamine treatment some month and recover from the abuse. I was just curious why I respond that way. What has changed receptor wise etc.
thx for the good advises.
