Craigslist: Sold my Volvo; not sure what to do?

So my boyfriend and I sold our 1992 Volvo 740. We got cash and the posting was pretty clear that it hadn't been registered in this state, nor smogged. Now here's where it gets tricky. We TRIED to smog it, but it didn't pass. This is why we're selling it. We had already put THOUSANDS of dollars($1800 for a rebuilt transmission, new battery and alternator, and we got a solenoid bypassed, so looking at almost $3000) into this thing and we weren't even breaking even for selling it for what we did sell it for, which was $1200(originally for a grand, but then we offered to Uhaul it for them and they stuck to $1200 without any prompting from us.) Again, we have already made the transaction, but we also didn't say anything about the Volvo not being able to pass smog... So she's asking about it. We were wondering what is the action that we need to take?

was the post crystal clear that it was neither registered nor smogged or was it pretty clear? if the listing was quite clear that the car was sold as is, you need take no action. caveat emptor.
