I've been online for well over an hour researching this but my library minutes are almost up. I can check responses to this from my phone.

I am taking Concerta as prescribed 56 mg 1x day in the morning.

I'm having normal side effects:
~Nausea (this is huge)

~Headaches (could be from caffeine w/d because of the nausea not having my coffee)

~Tiredness (so.tired)

Anyone else out there take it as prescribed and have advice for how to deal with these effects - Especially the NAUSEA? HOW LONG WILL THEY LAST? When will I be able to do my studies? I have incompletes to get on top of but I'm basically "sick" from this drug and I can't study yet.

I got some "good" info 8) on how to cut through the time release mechanism (razor, appropriate force, and throwing away useless parts) and I might try orally that way it tomorrow. Might this help with the nausea? I know the pamphlet says that taking it "any other way than prescribed" will increase risk of various side effects. I'm assuming they are referring to psychological dependence.

Thoughts?

Hope you all are well.

This might not be the medication for you. Mention this to your dr. I personally won't take a medication that makes me feel like crap. I know you have a little one to deal with which makes it that much harder. Just tell your dr, there are other meds that might be better suited for you.

Headaches are quite normal with this medication.. I believe (could be wrong here it is methylphenidate based... I used to be scripted ritalin.. it gave me migraines that would make me puke everwhere. Maybe adderall would be better for you, however it is addictive, I know you are trying to work on this and get past that part of your life. I don't know if these medications are an issue for you and your addictive personality.

Also with your anxiety, is there a reason you are on this medication? Do you have ADD or ADHD? Often times Anxiety masks ADD/ADHD, because anxiety can make it impossible to concentrate as well.

How is everything else going for you? Better I hope? My advice is to tell your dr, because those side effects are pretty common and sadly they don't go away. I also don't think defeating the time release will make those side effects go away... it could also make your anxiety worse. Anyways good luck and keep us posted.

Hows the weaning/xanax situation going?

Definitely talk to your doctor and see what your other options are. You shouldn't have to put up with side effects that are affecting your quality of life.

That's why I secretly don't take my anti-psychotics.

Thorazine sucks ass, I do take my doctors bullshit and stopped going to him altogether. I tell him any anti-psychotic is the shittiest sedation ever, and I have no more pleasure in life while on this. And what happens, I get another anti-psychotic! So I say, Fuck 'em.

I really want Soma for anxiety, It nulls my depression better than those shitty SSRI's any damn day of the week.

^Soma is easy to get from dr's here.. oddly enough. You might have to fudge what you want it for. If you catch my drift. Then take it for what you actually want to take it for once you get it.

Yeah, I feel ya. I mostly want to use it to come down off of any stim I might take during the day.

I consume 600mg minimum of caffeine a day, and sometimes I still feel too up to go down. So:Benzos are not heavy enough in the sedation department for me. (But, great for the resulting depression.)That is why I prefer alcohol. But none-the-less, alcohol has the most ravaging hangovers if you try to drink a fairly heavy sedating dose. And the answer to my problem is soma.

^Yea, I feel ya. I don't even drink anymore. It just makes me feel like shit all around. Is your dr pretty cool? Or open to suggestions? If so complain of back pain and say flexeril, skelaxin, celebrex, zaneflex, ect doesnt work for you.. Soma is most likely his next try. You can get a steady script of the 350's.. they want you to take 4 a day and one at bedtime which seems to be what you want anyways. That's what my dr did. I just don't like Soma all that much.

No, he says he is "concerned" about his patients and wants no one he serves to be addicted.

It bugs me because he is the only doctor around me that I can afford. (Fucking College!!!!)

So that's why you're so crazy, eh?
