I recently came across some pills WW 115's combo of apap caffeine and a barb. I shared with a couple friends. One I am specifically concerned about is my buddy roy. He took three of these pills and they contain that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butalbital (150mgs) around 1pm today we are at the gathering today and he is going to be drinking. How safe is roy?
Edit: also 1500mg's of apap
 
That is extremely dangerous, even if he doesn't feel any high per say, the butalbitalis still in his system. He might overdose is he drinks tonight, at the very least, he will black out, especially if he has never taken barbs before
 
If you guys were intending to consume alcoholic beverages, then why you'd dose a (as I told you, a non-recreational) barbiturate is beyond me.

Now, your friend can't drink and I doubt that the butalbital will even make him feel good. Those pills are not recreational.

I was not intending to drink and am not drinking. He got his braces tightened and he has bad migraines when this happens. Same with me with the CSF headaches. Nothing recreational about it...
 
Regardless of the intentions behind dosing (although it is reassuring to know that you weren't trying to get high off butalbital), in your bloodstream it is still very important that barbiturates never meet alcohol.

Plus, if you've guys have migraines, drinking alcohol is only going to make things worse.
 
after a car accident a longgggggg time ago..
i was rx'd fioricet..which is what those pills are.
tc's right..there's nothing recreational about them..
well, there wasn't for me, anyway.
but one day..i did take them in the afternoon..
and they were so non recreational..that i forgot i'd taken any
that day..
proceeded to drink wine & beer..
and it didn't take much..that's all i'll say.
honestly, drinking while taking a barb is stupid and reckless..
and drinking while injesting apap is doubly stupid.
it was when i did it..something i'd not do on purpose..
but it was stupid of me to forget.
you gave them to him-don't let him drink.

Roy wants to know when it would be safe. Another question I take caffeine also to equalize the pressure for the csf fluid does that have any interaction?
 
nothing that i know of.. besides it could cause stomach upset.
apap and any cns depressant is much more worrisome.
but is it healthy/wise to drink with your condition at all?
i ask because i don't know..
not to be cute.

roy-wait at least 24 hours after dosing..just to be safe.

I am going to echo the posters here. Do not drink alcohol in any amount on any barbiturate.

I nearly died from an overdose of two Fioricets (butalbital 100mg) + seven beers a few years ago.

Make sure your friend does not drink alcohol and does not consume any other depressants.

There's a reason barbiturates are almost completely phased out and no longer in use compared to their benzodiazepine counterparts, the therapeutic window of barbiturates is smaller than any other CNS depressant still used today.

Jesus, NT, you almost died of an OD from 100 mg and 7 beers only?!?! That's not even an abusive amount of butalbital, and 5-8 drinks is an extremely common amount to drink for the recreational drinker with experience. What did it feel like? Did you even feel drunk before you blacked out? :\

i think i'm invincible cause i took 500mg of phenobarbital 700mg of hydrocodone what ever 70 times 325 is of APAP 30 350mg soma and a fifth of vodka and just puked my guts out some time after i passed out and lived without medical attention i did have insanely high tolerances to all of the drugs except the phenobarbital but if you can die from 2 foricet and 8 beers i must be invincible

OP, try doing some reasearch of the effects of pills and dangerous combinations before you just start eating them.
 
^With that level of massive abuse, it's only a matter of time before your body gives up and shuts down.

This invincibility thing, don't let a false sense of security turn into a complex. That's a fatal thought process man, absolutely nothing good will come from thinking like that.
 
Yes. I nearly died. I woke up in a pool of my own vomit, naked, in my shower with the water on 100% cold. My house at the time was 20 blocks from the party that I was drinking the beers at. The last thing I remember was having beer number four or five. I'm lucky to be alive. I also took the 100mg of butalbital around six hours before I had my first drink.

Bear in mind that I had zero other drugs in my system (save for 80mg caffeine which was rendered useless by the barbs) at the time of this overdose. mrflowers, you are lucky to be alive as well. Barbiturates are not like benzodiazepines, they're not like any other downer, really.

Do not drink on barbiturates. It can kill you.

yeah because almost ANYONE would OD from that much downers, unless your tolerance to all were ungodly. Glad you arent dead man.

I have this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syringomyelia condition it gives me headaches I figured it would help secondly I did know it was a dangerous combo I just didn't know how long its halflife it was just to be sure I came to the forum that is ALL about harm reduction.
