Say I have a laptop from best buy, say I need a new hard drive so the old one is in davy jones locker room, I have a 3 year agreement with best buy if anything happens to the pc they fix it free of charge, well my question is how do I fuck the thing up so that the hard drive will need to be replaced......will putting a huge magnet on top of it work? otherwise let me know! tHanKz.

I just want a new hard drive because I want to sell this laptop because I have one through my company but I have a ll my bank and credit card info on this laptop and do not want someone who buys my laptop via ebay to be able to access my personal info. or can you tell me how I can clear it up so it wont be accessible to a new user?

My mistake. I meant you will not be able to count the harddrive as damaged, and thus receive another one from the store.

I guess I would have more piece of mind if I just put a new hard drive in, can you link me to a site where I can buy a new hard drive and is it hard to install?

Unless you have all kinds of peripherals (ZIP, CDRW, DVD-Rom, JAZ, etc), it's just a matter of plugging one cable from the motherboard into the harddrive, and the power cable in. Usually the BIOS is set to automatically recognize most current harddrives. Anything beyond that, and I'd just say buy it at Best Buy and have them install it for you.

i have a cdrw and thats it, but I will email with any questions, thanks. otherwise do you think it is safe to just use that software then sell it, I also want to ask you that site first took me to something wipe something was the name of the software but when I clicked the link again it took me to a forum, can you recommend the specific software I should look for at best buy? Thanks!
 
Not a legal question. Does not meet forum guidelines and I can't figure out which other forum this should go in. Looks like the question has been answered.
