News Come on, admit it, who was there?

Take some of this you Stinking Hippies. No wonder @ageingpartyfiend is so loose in the head after being bashed around the skull by the Cops.

Jokes aside this kind of thing will never be the same, the time this went on is equal to The Summer of Love in the USA, everything that came after is a mere echo of an old War Cry against "The System" which is rotten to the core.

I'd honesty expect something in regard to a Music or Art scene to rise up in Protest against what is going on but I really think "Society" has been muted, the youth and most of the population have no "spark" in them to create a subculture that gives Hope & a release valve for all the pressure we are under right now.
We are all walking blind, deaf & mute into the great hamburger making machine like placid Cows IMHO.

We should all be dancing on hill tops, half naked, off our heads on East Europe Mafia made MDA (mid 1990's Purple Elephant's & those savage speckled Christian Fish symbol pills that had the weird green bits in) but NO it isn't happening.
Better off staying at home, eating home delivered Tesco Ready Meals & watching Netflix drama series as the world burns I guess.

I can smell those two dirt-merchants @F.U.B.A.R. and his partner is selling dirt @blondin through the screen!!!! Have a wash you rancid animals!!!!!

I agree, have your annual bath @F.U.B.A.R. for you have promised me something special and I EFFING WANT IT!!!

Now Clapham Common is full of people up to no good off their nut on meth looking for Chem sex in bushes or groups of Teenagers doing N2O. Every 20 minutes you have groups of middle class people walking their Springer Spaniel in groups moaning how the Wait rose delivery driver messed up their Organic Lettuce order & Tara will now have to have sandwiches for lunch at her private school that's sprayed with some Monsanto chemical death.
Welcome to 2023 in the UK.

Does Ireland have a free rave scene? I always picture Ireland in the most part very rural, plenty of fields & old farms. It seems a perfect place for a few sound system rigs to pull up miles from anywhere for a night.
Then again if the local people got upset by it I have a feeling one phone call is all it would take & some "very charming men" in ski masks would arrive with UVF etc logos on their jackets & ask only ONCE for it to stop right away.

I'd blame it all on @fastandbulbous then run off very quickly, laughing as I vanished into the distance.

Ireland doesn't really have a great rave scene to be honest but yes, it's mainly due to rural areas being hiding spots for IRA or whatever. You can never be sure who's land you are trespassing on and farmers do have shot guns.

Cities like Belfast, Dublin, limerick and cork do have good rave scenes but you need to know people.

Exactly the same as it was back in 96 bar the chemsex

We had a huge illegal rave near us a few weeks back, it kept half the city up. It led to me logging in to my old Squatjuice account but they don't seem to advertise events there anymore, just a load of vape chat mostly.

@Zopiclone bandit ...I was at that biology rave and at the common most sundays that summer along with hundreds who had been out .Happy daze only lived round the corner as well.
You think anything like it will return when this "Cost of living" crisis really takes hold & people begin to loose their jobs & then loose their homes? I have a feeling what's coming this year will be make the Union action of the late 1970's look like a kids holiday.
My understanding is the UK Rave scene was a direct reaction to The Free Market under Thatcher, as jobs were given away people became poor, lost their homes etc so they took to the road to live, for a release of the stress of it all they got wasted on MDMA & MDA. Am I correct?

Sadly the generations below me are mostly "Woke" idiots, more concerned with screaming about BLM & Trans rights, thinking that human- potato hybrid Greta Thumberg (sp?) Is here to save us when she is mentally ill child.

I honesty see NO hope with the youth, they are more fussed about taking crap photos of their stupid face than anything else.

You think anything like the late 1989's will come again? Some renegade chemist must be brewing up some tasty drug stew in secret just waiting to release it upon the world.

Whoever made MXE (cough cough) was onto something BIG & I honesty expected some kind of underground scene to be born around it, sadly a bunch of ass-hats did it, some twat fell into a canal then sank to the bottom so it got banned, that was truly horrific waste of the most useful substance to appear in my life for tripping, religious practice (it's equal to the DPT cults in Brazil) and also vast medical use too.

You have any hope for the future?

Vanished, as in without trace? 😁

Partially correct

UK Rave scene was far more hedonistic than political

What you are referring to is the traveller scene. That was already going on (in a much fluffier /peaceful way) prior to the exodus from the deprived cities via busses/vans etc..which started happenning circa 1982/3. It got a little more hardcore then to say te least. There was an established free festival scene...basically a festival almost every weekend from early May to end September. Music at these was folky / punky / anarcho / dubby / psychedelic. Think hawkwind, subhumans, culture shock, ozrics, 2000Ds, etc etc. Fuelled by speed, acid, shrooms, hash, beer, these events were positively medieval and culminated in 150k plus at Stonehenge for a month in 1984. Gypsies, (old and new) travellers, punks, hippies, bikers etc etc - these events were pure anarchy - let's just say it wouldn't have been a good look to be sucking a dummy inhaling vicks. The final straw for Thatcher who, somewhat sucessfully, tried to smash the culture to pieces in 1985.

Then, much later, say 1988/9...we noticed a lot of bleepy-sounds from corners of the festis...as the underground rave scene started to ease it's way in. Then came the MDMA etc. The scenes finally merged fully at the Castlemorton rave 1992 (previously the Avon Free Festival)

It won't return cos people now just pour their rage into a black hole known as social media and are completely doped by the internet... and have no idea how to really mobilise...amazing really that we managed to do it back pre mobile phones/internet eh

Made me think about The Acid Test Ken Kesey held for The Hells Angeles. I have to agree with you as I can't see the "youth" of today cutting it in a environment like that with those kinds of people for long.
I get the feeling the Selfie obsessed generation who feel they are really slumming it & "living on the road" if they can't get access to a Glamping style tent & have only cold water to wash with would get along with the classical "dog on a rope" types.
