That's pretty interesting. PNAS paper by a good lab where they did the due diligence and covered their bases experimentally.
Also the compound has activity in the single nanomolar range which makes it likely to be active at levels encountered in drug taking.
They looked into kappa receptor biased agonism, and found a slightly different behavior than salvinorin A, which indicates a slightly different action. It seems to be better against itch.
I am unsure if it has the hallucinogenic effects of salvinorin A. Some of the differences in the two behaviorally indicate that it feels subjectively different to a rodent. Usually these studies are trying to bring a drug to market and will minimize the "psychotomimetic" effects, only implying them through behavioral tests like elevated plus or forced swim.

Well mushroom season is coming upon us. This mushroom is fairly easy to find. I just need to actually find it. Which with mushroom hunting it’s always a gamble…
Stay tuned on BL and hopefully I find it these next few months. I can promise you my curiosity is piqued and I will be hunting these. Just imagine the possibilities if we discover yet another psychoactive mushroom!

I am fairly certain collybolide has already been dismissed, I read on this on Reddit, can't remember the details but I am fairly certain that collybolide is not active.
Human experimentation would would of course be interesting to see, but I am not very optimistic.

I’ve been hunting edible mushrooms for many years now, while I’m far from considering myself an expert. I’m well enough trained to know what I can and can’t fuck with. This one is, surprisingly, an easier one to ID relatively. I’ll report back! Could be next year if I’m unlucky but I will try this I can promise that much.
Yea I was unable to see the Reddit reports due to me not having the app.. Could you summarize the findings of others on Reddit for not only me but others?
Even then I’ll be trying this no matter what. It’s supposedly non-toxic and again fairly easy to find, I’m hard pressed to not give it a go…

You don’t know me very well do you.. This is what I do, I don’t “forget” about trying new substances. I do have a life though so sometimes it takes awhile.
Yes fall is peak season but the thing about mushroom hunting it’s that you can’t expect anything. Season could be shit and I find nothing, in which case it’d have to wait until next year.
Even if it’s this year it’ll be some months still, I might start searching around in a week or two though as temperatures have started to drop a bit.

I don't have any particular thread or anything, it was just something I remember reading a while back, I wouldn't be too optimistic, who knows if
1. it is even active at KOR
2. is present in any notable amounts
3. is orally active
But I wish regards to your psychonautic adventures.
1. This is true, a follow up article found no activity with Collybolide but that’s one article and they do admit there could be another mechanism such as active impurities or degradation product. The active impurities part intrigues me. It seems based on the two articles that Collybolide extracted is active whereas synthesized it wasn’t.

3. This is the number one reason many potential psychoactives get bypassed. It’s also why I go for sublingual route on my first try of any new natural psychoactive. Salvinorin A is sublingual active so it’s not a stretch to imagine this one is too.
There’s also no mention of any previous use by humans or otherwise of this mushroom. That could simply be due to its far from a choice edible being tough and if not orally active may have been bypassed.
The highly prolific nature of this mushrooms almost pushes me to try it alone, if this were a psychoactive with amazing medicinal potential it would be huge for the world. It’s not a crazy thought that some organizations might not want this to be known. This mushroom is pretty much everywhere.
The risk to the benefit ratio for this one seems to be worth the trouble.

I note that the researchers are keen to note high affinity for KOR affinity, but efficacy isn't mentioned. Is it a superagonist, agonist, partial agonist, silent agonists, inverse agonist or antagonist?
There are a lot of other things out these to be explored. Things we KNOW are active but that aren't quite as easy to obtain. 7-methyl AMT is lovely, but it's such a bitch to make, it's never seen.

Lol I’m no mushroom specialist.. I’m like a mid level mushroom hunter.
That said I do believe I found one yesterday! I didn’t take it for eating for a number of reasons, mainly the fact that I never mess with a new (not easy to ID) mushroom if there’s only one sample. Partially cuz there’s only one sample to examine features, also cuz the amount there isn’t worth the trouble.
It’s good though cuz may mean I could find more here soon, weathers been right.
I’ll check those out later!

Frankly I think the amyloid hypothesis is cold dead at this point. With the retracted papers from Sylvain Lesne, there is honestly no reason to continue believing in that (also the decades of negative experimental results and billions of dollars spent).
im not sure wat you are talking about. what amyloid hypothesis? so it turns out there is no such thing as alzheimers? i knew it. its simple just dementia. i know its some type of brain dysfunction but fancy names like alzheimers were probably gathering momentum.

I’ve read one bioassay of these mushrooms, they’re supposed to be very bitter but definitely active oral. Don’t know the dose but it wasn’t that strong. Given the similarity to salvinorin a I’d stay on the low end dose wise. Find salvia to be rather creepy.
