I dont know what the purple substance is, so lets simply talk about what someone asked me in a forum, somewhere, sometime.
The topic was extraction of codeine phosphate by cold water extraction method from {360mg codeine ph; 6000mg acetaminophen; Xmg of unknown side substances from 12 commercial Dafalgan pills}.

The extraction of codeine was a typical CWE, except that after filtration, the liquid wasn't clear, it had a white blur. Assuming that the filtration had gone wrong, the subject re-filtered the same solution with new equipment. Since the liquid came, once again, with a white blurred color and since the white substance remained water soluble at a point where acetaminophen is not, the subject was forced to assume that the white on the liquid was a side product from the pills.
After filtration, a few grams of sugar were added to the liquid and it was putted on bain marie for 30-45m, bellow 60ºc. The sugar was added for flavour purposes, at a time when the subject was not planing on doing evaporation by bain marie.
After it, the solution was slowly cooled and divided into two cups. One of the cups was consumed on the same day and the other cup was forgotten under a shelf for 4 weeks.
Yesterday, the subject searched for the cup and was mystified by having found a strange dark purple (fading between red and brown) crystallized substance on its bottom. Note: high up on the walls of the cup there are parts where a white substance has crystallized. The subject is assuming that that is the case because high up, there wasn't enough time for the reaction to take place.

Is there a qualified person that could inform me what could have happened and which substances the cup contains?

A rapid response would be deeply appreciated, since the subject is running low on buprenorphine and may need to take measures.
Thank you very much for your time.
