I took a large amount of codeine -- 600 mg -- and now I have tinnitus that has persisted for the past four hours. This isn't permanent, right? What causes this? I've never had this problem in the past. Very annoying.

Bizarre. I've never heard of or experienced that before (I've dosed at that amount frequently.)
If it doesn't go away within 24hrs, you might want to check it out with a doc. It's probably not that serious though, I wouldn't freak out.
