CNN Ron Paul and Marijuana

I can't stand the arguments these anti-drug people use. His reason for not legalizing it is because it would be too hard to regulate and enforce??? It's not like we would have billions and billions of dollars and tons of people freed up after making it legal. [/sarcasm]

I wish Ron Paul was more of an asshole, he is too nice to be on these CNN "debates"... the other assholes just end up yelling over him most of the time.
 
I wish Ron Paul won the election instead of Obama, I haven't even watched your video yet though.

Edit: I watched it, the other guy just talked over Ron Paul, but he wouldn't lower himself to doing the same so he hardly talked.

Also, the guy against pot was reading off cue-card bullshit, what highschool kid in the US is getting opium? He made so many comments to show how disconnected from reality he was on the topic. Ron Paul was just talking off the top of his head and not just reading bullshit fake statistics.

It's sad that Paul was the only Republican at a lot of those pre-election debates who would admit that our foreign policy is what causes terrorism, not terrorists being jealous of freedom or hating freedom or any other bullshit. I can't stand how much of politics is pandering to ignorant, scared, America's-the-best-at-everything 'tards.

I'm glad he's there, though. <3 Older politicians that have consistently well thought out positions, who also seem to really care about their population make me feel a little less bitter. Then, all the voters that pic the guys whose positions have little basis in logic, efficacy, or our wellbeing just redirect my bitterness :X

Obama's at least getting more people involved in politics, and that could lead to some decent things down the road.
 
I've been a Ron Paul fan for quite some time now. He's one of the few voices of freedom & sanity in the federal government, in any branch.

This interview is typical of the oppressive tactics used by pro-drug war people. They don't use facts or logic, they just try and shout louder than the other side, and attempt to negate any chance of legitimate debate, because they know where the legitimate debate will lead.

well, seriously. both sides made good comments imho. when it went into splitscreen, it really felt like i was listening to the two hemispheres of my brain having an argument. i'm in no rush to see legalization myself. as far as i'm concerned, this legalization-for-medicinal-purposes spiel is old hat, not to mention shit-filled hat. what i was really hoping to hear the most is the plain common sense exhibited by dr. paul.

are drugs good for society? no, they're not. but republicans do not get to decide what is and isn't good for society, because that would be fucking socialism not democracy. bottom line is that this is a huge issue, the public wants it legal, and stone-walling them is not going to solve the violence now just like prohibition in the 20s didn't take guns out of gangsters' hands.

in my mind, there is no more or no less that can really be said on this issue. is this not a democracy? yes it bloody well is. do we know how this same issue was resolved 80 years ago? yes we do, so what is the fucking hold-up?
 
That fat ass talking over Ron probably got his pockets lined right before he went on air from the $40 BILLION bucks funding the "War on Drugs."

Legalize drugs period. Regulate them and tax them. Take all that money spent on ruining people's lives and have it go toward treatment and REAL education about drugs. Win win for everyone involved.

Oh, except of course the tobacco/alcohol/and prescription medicine industries who are some of the biggest power players in Washington. Which is the whole reason drugs like marijuana are still illegal anyway.....
 
I think pot dealers/growers just need a better lobby. Cannabis sp. and THC, its synthetic isomers, esters, etc are all Schedule I. A designation that specifically states that there is no acceptable medical use for these drugs. However Dronabinol (which is simply synthetic THC, but the same molecule nonetheless) has been in Schedule II, and now Schedule III, both of which specifically state there is medical utility for the substance. The only difference between the THC in Schedule I and the THC in Schedule III is where it comes from, and all forms of Dronabinol come from pharmaceutical companies that make huge campaign contributions... Now thats fucked up

completely agree. i was actually surprised ron paul didnt address that when Marinol was mentioned. seems like pharmaceutical companies are still able to manipulate and justify the prohibition with their own hypocrisy
