I have read much about this BP med. I recently got my hands on some .1mg and just a simple question really...is this only safe to take if you are in withdrawal? I understand it's not recreational at all but sometimes I take baclofen just to feel a sense of calm...Also probably a bad idea to mix with opioids/benzos I imagine?

Also, when in opiate/opioid withdrawal, does this only help with sleep/restless legs? I got mixed results here with some stating it feels like Valium if one did not know it was a Clonidine? I want to know what symptoms it really targets? Like does is help get rid of sweaty clammy hands/skin or chills, gut issues, cravings and all the other bs? Or is it best just to calm you the fuck down? I don't want to take one during the day and crash out in my car on a 15min break at work or something of that sort..

It's totally safe

I take 0.3mg clonidine daily for anxiety/sleep and I recently combined with alcohol--no issues

The only time it might not be safe is if you are already experiencing symptoms of low BP (dizziness, blurred vision, syncope, etc)

Nice so it does help with anxiety...sort of like when the Dr prescribed hydroxizine for anxiety? It's obviously an anti-histamine/sleep med. I guess my next question is how close does it mimic the feeling of a benzo? Just the sedating and/or blackout qualities?

It's quite different than a benzo as it just works to reduce norepinephrine

There isn't any blackout qualities and if you're relying on just clonidine for sedation you might be disappointed

I'm supposed to take 0.1mg in the morning and 0.2mg at bedtime but lately I've been taking the full 0.3mg at bedtime with 2.5mg Lorazepam and 15mg Zopiclone along with some other stuff like loxapine and Lemborexant

Interesting..I actually am very pleased to hear that it doesn't just knock you the heck out.

In fact I believe epinephrine is one of the reasons why WD sucks so bad so I see how this could help.

Sounds like I am just going to have to experiment myself.

I am still on a stupid long sub taper that I created myself(I don't get prescribed anything)
And I have crazy strategy to try and get off all this stuff, and lately I've been flirting with other mods that are non-addictive/ non-narcotic to find a new friend so to speak.

Don't get me wrong, even when I am clean from subs and all I am sure I will still try to keep a stash of oxy or vicodin around but just want to get off the addiction cycle and master some sort of balance.

Tis' be why I am stocking up on clonidine, gabapenton, Lyrica, plethora of benzos, kratom and weed. Plus much more(pseudo and immodiun for example)

First things first I need to get this 1mg sub down to half and see how much torture I may experience, then maybe a weak full agonist before switching over to comfort meds.

Clonidine sounds like it's right up my alley too. Anything that can give a sense of chill (like baclofen or trazadone) I am totally all the way down to go for!!

Clonidine lowers your blood pressure. It was mainly used as a blood pressure medicine previously. Its mostly for calming down. Its a life saver for restless leg. It also boosts the painkiller qualities of CBD and herb in general. The main thing to keep in mind is the blood pressure stay away from things that lower blood pressure during the ... uh... ingestion or whatever.

I have been Rx'd Clonidine for 25 years. It is hands down one the best drugs available. I take 0.9mg daily. It is a alpha-2 drug that blocks pain signals at the base of the brain/ spinal cord. Zanaflex is the weaker brother of it and DEX is the stronger version of it. I prefer it over benzos because building a tolerance is just not possible. The max dose daily for cancer patients is 2.6mg. It was developed in the earliy 70's for brain surgery. It is given IV with opioids for severe cancer pain and it is given with morphine in epidural shots. Recently a Anesthesiologist let me try it IV before a procedure and it hands down hits very different.

The issue with Clonidine naive users is they take it for relief for heroin or fentanyl withdrawls and do not realize Clonidine has a very long half life. They will take it the previous day for relief then the next day shoot up and OD. Clonidine also has bad withdrawls that last for 3 days that feel like a mix of opioid & benzo withdrawls. Also 0.2mg-0.6mg does not seem like alot and indeed is alot if you have not been on it for years.

Being tolerant, I take it with Rx'd Roxicodone 210mg, Methadone 30mg, Ativan 2mg, Visteril 50mg, and Lunesta 3mg. I would say I take B-52 cocktails 2-3 times per day. Some Dr's give me shit saying I take alot of meds, then I follow with " after decades it is different ". Surgeries are hard for me because the hospital knows I have a daily 400mme and a high sedative score, and they typically add a 25% mme increase for acute pain. That is not enough. So I am lucky, I can have clonidine, ativan, lunesta, and other sedatives. If I get cancer, I would be one of those patients that is given 1000-1500mg of morphine equivalent or higher mixed with clonidine & sedatives.

.sort of like when the Dr prescribed hydroxizine for anxiety
if you take it with hydroxizine it is very strong and within 20 mins you will nod & crash out. take care with clonidine. i have Rx's for clonidine, hydroxizine, ativan, roxicodone, methadone, and lunesta. I am giving you straight professional facts.
If you have not been on clonidine for a few years, don't mix it with anything. if you shoot dope be very careful with it. it will kill you like Xanax mixed with heroin or fentanyl.

Fun fact: clonidine is similar to and an analog of xylazine. But unlike xylazine clonidine has been Rxed for years on humans.
clonidine is 40 times stronger than xylazine. xylazine is an analog of clonidine. 0.2mg of clonidine is equal to 8mg of xylazine. Basically I take 40-45mg of xylazine daily. Clonidine was invented in the early 1970's for brain surgery. Clonidine has a half-life of 12-16hrs. It is a very strong drug by all means. Clonidine IV is something else and hard to describe.

Basically I take 40-45mg of xylazine, Ativan 1mg, Lunesta 3mg, Hydroxizine 75mg, and Benadryl 150mg to fall asleep and stay asleep. It does drop my pulse to 43-53 bpm according to the Holter monitor and my dreams (night-terrors) cause my pulse to go from 43bpm to 150bpm instantly. When it happens I wake up violently like someone is attacking my mind.

I treated my dog with Clonidine 0.075mg doses the last year of her life for rapid breathing associated with cancer pain and discomfort. It worked very well for her as it works very well for me. I have been on clonidine for 25 years.

clondine is given for cancer pain with opioids to increase the effect of opioids. 2.6mg is the max daily dose.

This is actually a very potent blood pressure medication. Anybody who uses it regularly should get a home cuff, monitor their blood pressure and know the safe parameters.

I have been on it for 25 years. That is good advice. I consider it to be a strong drug and a tolerance cannot be built to it. It always works for me. Heart doctors do not like using it because it reduces blood pressure fast and it doesn't provide a slow linear effect.

Also it has a half-life of 12 hrs for tolerant patients. In naive patients it is more like 24hrs. If used for opioid withdrawls with clonidine naive people, they run a strong risk of OD when they shoot up the next day off of 0.2-0.3mg clonidine doses the previous day.

the withdrawls are similar to opioids only lasting 2-3 days. it cause horrible restless leg syndrome, sweating, shaking, anger, and extreme pulse rate.

I used to take clonidine 0.9mg with Toprol 100mg, Lisinerpril 40mg, Diltiazem 240mg. I stopped taking all of these except for Clonidine 5 months ago. Now I am going to have to be put back on different heart/pulse meds after wearing the Holter monitor for 8 days in March. I found out I have SVT with Hypertension II. Everytime I standup or go from a laying position, my pulse jumps from 70bpm to 170bpm. It does this 10-14 times per day resting and light activity like walking to the backyard. When I sleep my pulse goes to 43bpm and bad dreams cause it to jump to 150bpm. The Holter monitor is an awesome tool with a journal.

I used 150mcg clonidine for night terrors and thought it was a good med because it lowers norepinephrine and this must be good to counter anxiety right? Oh boy I was so wrong. This stuff induced some of the worst depression I've ever had. I was constantly sad and empty, and went into the first and only manic episode I've ever had. Turns out one actually needs noradrenaline to feel happy and be functional. But I guess clonidine will be good for withdrawals when the nervous system is out of balance and dumps too much norepinephrine into your synaptic clefts.
