Hey bluelighters I'm a 20 year old kid with a job as a cook and I have been dependent on opiates for 4 years. The past two being IV heroin and oxymorphone. I'm currently using bupe IV (im aware of the risks) and have had a dependency on benzos for a little over a year one varying from 1 to 3 mg clonazepam that Ive had supplied by a friend with a 90 1mg prescription.

I'm trying to get off the damn benzos so I can hop on methadone and get off the needle for good. I've tried to come ween down over a month taking about .3 clonazepam for a week before I purchased another script and the rebound anxiety was rough but manageable. The main problem I had was my hands constantly shaking making my speed and efficiency as a cook very difficult causing issues during work.

I'm getting trained for management in a couple months and am trying to get off the clonazepam for various reasons financially, being able to be a methadone patient and not juggling two habits which is very difficult as it is.

I'm just seeking advice on a proper taper I need to get off them for good. I plan on staying on opiate maintenence which I will deal with later on as I get bupe off the street because I have no insurance and want to shake the needle which I know I can get methadone maintenence not to mention legally. I'm tired of being tracked up and juggling two habits.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm trying to improve my life and any advice at all would helP.

Thank you

they make 3mg kpins? i took 2mg this morning and feel asleep right as they peaked. i still feel good and relaxed , but i wasted my favorite part sleeping. (learned something there) but yeah i just took 20mg valium like 10 mins ago to bring it back/get feeling right.

you shouldnt even have rebound anxiety, get some valerian root and start dosing every few days (if necessary) or if the root works well enough on its own, just give the benzos a break. i did a 2 month taper from 2.5mg kpin daily to 1.5 over a month or two and it wasnt hard at all. you have nothing to worry about. but grab some valerian root, it helps alot! -aphex

No I buy the 1mg green minty kpins, my buddy gets 90 a month. Thanks a lot for informing me about the valerian root I didn't know about that I really appreciate it :)

Thank you for the link wiggi, I apologize if this thread was unnecessary

Edit: oh yeah I'm real paranoid about jumping off is because I seized just from maybe a month bender when I was like 15 taking alprazolam to get fucked up before I discovered opiates. I thought it was strange having a seizure from just a bender (I don't remember how long it really was) and I have no history when it comes to seizures, naturally.

And I take the clonazepam strictly for its use anxiety. After I discovered opiates I thought they were shit recreational wise. Sometimes at the beginning a month I'll take 6 or 7 just because but recreation wise they're not appealing to me I just got a habit taking them for anxiety after a 60mg a day oxymorphone habit and they helped me stay on bupe because the anxiety relief

There are numerous taper schedules you could use, some longer some shorter, etc. Do you have access to any other benzos? Something with a longer half-life? Because using something like diazepam or chlordiazepoxide, even lorazepam would be better. Those are what a residential detox facility would give you to taper with. Speaking of that, have you considered an impatient detox? Kicking benzos can be really dangerous as you know because of the potential for seizures, which you said you already have had in the past.

xanax is like the crack of benzos. i wont even take them for free and im a pillhead. they have a crash thats pretty bad with rebound anxiety and they make you soooo irritable and ready to snap. fuck xanax. i like kpins, valium, etizolam....stuff like that

I recommend anyone gets off benzo's unless you have crippling anxiety and even if you do I'd try to find alternative therapy. Benzo's are just so awful to be dependent upon and to get off, they also have been proven to lead to dementia with long term use.

^ I second that post. In the past I read posts like that and laughed but after being on benzos for years, I fully understand what all those warning posts are about.
