Cimetidine (Tagamet) and Psilocybin Mushrooms

Pretty simple question. I searched high and low, and surprisingly I have not found any discussions on this.

Tagamet, an OTC acid reducer is well known for it's enzyme inhibiting effects which in turn potentiates many drugs including opiates and benzos. I feel like cimeitidine is essential when taking kratom. Without it, the experience feels weak and has too much body load.

Having said that, I plan to take a low dose of shrooms with a moderate dose of kratom to produce a lightly euphoric and lightly visual experience. Does anyone know how mushrooms and cimetidine interact?

Never heard of the interaction being fruitful.

Not sure whether the tryp's present in the mushroom interact with the cytochrome P450 system.

Let us know how you fare.
 
400mg cimetidine earlier in the day w/ about 10g kratom, and then 1/16th of mushrooms later on in the evening. Smooth, euphoric and visual trip, no issues or negatives to note. Great success! :)
 
I haven't tried it myself nor do I see particular use in trying it at some point... but I think your feeling would be off the mark and that it will not potentiate mushrooms. Because there is no reason or evidence whatsoever that points to cytochrome P450 isoforms breaking down / metabolizing psilocin / psilocybin. Instead, MAO or monoamine oxidase does that. A whole other enzyme in your liver.

MAO inhibitors (MAOIs) are sometimes used to potentiate mushrooms, if you were wondering about that. I have tried Peganum Harmala with mushrooms and it was very intense, more earthy / deeply natural feeling somehow and spiritual. The word 'Gaian' comes to mind. I have no desire to do that again though.

Well /thread... I guess, as far as I'm concerned.

FYI there are subthreads about both potentiating or combining mushrooms in general, and also one with special focus on MAOIs.

I'm assuming TexasBlueDot searched for the post and stumbled across it, but I don't know for sure. When I've been too faded to check the date of a last comment, I've necro'd a post or two in my day. DXM, LSD, MDA, and 5-MeO-DMT are all substrates of CYP2D6 which Cimetidine inhibits, so I'd suspect there's some amount of interaction, it's just never easy to tell how much until trying.
