So I just got done doing a bunch of research and found out that yes, cimetidine does indeed increase the effects of alprazolam, but as an antacid it also slows and alters the absorption of the drug.
So just a little advice, take it or leave it, use another cyp3a4 inhibitor than cimetidine when orally taking benzos/opiates/opioids. I'd assume if you IV your DOC the levels of acid in your stomach that break down the drug wouldn't affect the IV'd drug, but when you take something orally, you need enough stomach acid in order for it to dissolve completely and quickly.
I wasted over 50 alprazolam xr 3mg due to taking cimetidine. So I just got myself a huge bottle of WGFJ and am gonna down that with the 5 alprazolam xr 3mg I have left.
EDIT: I think this applies more to the XR version of Alprazolam since it takes so long to kick in and the instant release ones pretty much start working before they even touch your tongue.
