Hello, I exchanged my 1 year habit of a gram of H a day (IV) for MMT. I stabilized at 95 mg of methadone and as of my most recent taper have gone down to 50 mg. I've been sober for 9 out of the 10 months on methadone, if I was to use a portion of my old Heroin dose would my tolerance still be sky high or significantly lower? Note, I know this is mere speculation.

There's a 50/50 chance you'd even get high, let alone even feel the rush. Since you're on methadone. Granted, the dose varies from person to person on when the blocking properties of done are present. But even being on 50MG/Day could block you from feeling it. But if it doesn't block it, the feeling of the heroin will be greatly diminished. & odds are, you'll just be disappointed.

I mean, you've got NINE months sober, why throw that away for one night? & not to mention, your tolerance is still going to be higher, instead of lower, because of the done. So while you COULD feel your dose, at the same time, you could also need double or triple your dose, to breakthrough the done. I'm not saying to do that, not at all. But, that's what it COULD take.

Either way, if I were you, I would start out small. Adding another potent opiate on top of methadone could cause disaster, that's a LOT of CNS depression. But yeah, start small, then slowly work your way up... If you even feel anything at all.

Good luck, man. Stay safe.

This is the analogy that I use for anyone trying to get high while on opioid maintenance:

It's like an alcoholic that drinks vodka all day trying to get drunk off of a beer later in the day. Maybe they will feel a little more of a buzz for 20-30 minutes afterwards, but then they wouldn't notice much of a difference at all. In order to actually get a proper high you need to be at baseline so you have room to go up. If you have an opioid in your system already, and a decent dose of a potent one at that, you are unlikely to get the desired effects from adding some of a different opioid to the mix since you are going from some to a little more, rather than nothing to something.

It's like re-dosing on opiates. It's usually very ineffective since your body has already adjusted to having some of that class of drugs in it already, so adding more to the mix usually only adds to sedation and duration instead of euphoria. When I was still using I could do a bag an hour for 8 hours, but would have been better off just doing 2-3 bags in the first hour as the other way wouldn't continue getting me higher and would just be a waste.
