Green chewing gum stain in light coloured upholstery.... beyond freezing and chipping away, tried and it's just left a sticky residue on the fabric. What's the best way to remove this? My 400euro bond is riding on it :(

Have used google but it comes up with about 8 conflicting solutions, considering just getting a professional but i'm in Germany and don't speak German so don't know how easy that is going to be.

Any help/suggestions appreciated!

It's an upholstered chair, i'm not sure what the fabric is but could post a photo of the damage?

this is all you need.

I don't know if they sell this in germany but you can buy it at Home Depot in the U.S.

^That.

But...

If I remember my Helauise, the trick to getting gum out, is peanut butter.

Maybe it needs a little mayonaise to get going.

You go sit in the son and let that melt in.

Ugh. Why me. I smell like a sandwich.

^bahahaha

StarOceanHouse, i wish they had goo gone here!!! That looks to be a sure thing according to all the research i've done.

This is a chair with similar fabric;

I'm thinking of going with a warm vinegar/water solution....or eucalyptus oil...

If only it were that easy ;) good old eucalyptus oil did the trick though - seems i was in a panic for no reason.

Thanks Thou! Busty that would of definitely been the solution if it wasn't for it being a bloody recliner, thank god for the internet and eucalyptus oil is all i can say. Every piece of furniture in the place is now covered with sheets lest someone decide to sit on it with gum on their pants again... It's quite funny now i think of it, what are the chances!

Glad to hear the nasty gum has been effectively removed! I'm going to go ahead and close this since the solution has been found. If anyone has objection to that just shoot me a PM.
