Chasing the dragon (getting the most bang for you buck)

So, I've got access to highly pure white powder heroin (one of the perks of living on this side of the world). Even though I've got the chasing technique down in theory, I still get quite a bit of charred H. I'm using a normal lighter set on its lowest setting (with the top broken off; I've tried jamming a toothpick into the gas hole to reduce the flame but I'm not sure it makes a difference), and I've tried two methods of chasing. One is simply putting the H on a flat piece of foil and tilting, while the other involves rolling up a piece of foil, allowing for a lighter-shaped central part; I put the H on one end, and chase it to the other end (that's how I learned to smoke ice, but I've never seen anyone do it with smack before). I get plenty high, but given that my supply is 90%+ pure, I feel that I should be using a lot less.

Ideally, what should my foil look like when it's done? Is some charring inevitable, or should it pretty much all just be vaporized at the end?

That's because the pure white(number 4) you are using is not the normal heroin for smoking. the brown#3 is the smoking stuff for chasing. Why not snort a little bit (very little if it's pure) and see how that goes? You'll get off almost as fast too.

Try holding the lighter further away. Or better yet use a candle on a table and just hover above it with the foil.
