Cannabis for Restless Leg Syndrome?

Has anyone has success using cannabis for RLS? I had horrible side effects with RLS drugs (gabapentin, ropinirol), so have been using Delta 8 gummies and vapes with meaningful success with very severe RLS (all legal in my state, as long as they are hemp derived). I also have a congenital malformation in my cervical spine, and cannot use muscle relaxers (Xanax, Ambien) because I need my neck to stay nice and tight to hold my cervical spine in place. Because of this, I tend to stay away from Indica and focus on Sativa (as RLS is a neurological condition anyway). Tolerance is an issue so I have to keep adjusting. I'm definitely on my own, so looking for anyone who has had similar experiences/success.

IME… high doses of THC can actually cause RLS. If you take 1:1 CBD/THC I notice the CBD can tame the RLS and the potential anxiety that comes with THC. CBN also helps!

Thank you! I haven't considered CBN - I'll look into it! I have stayed away from Delta 9, as I generally get anxiety/paranoia. So far none of that with Delta 8. 🙏

I assume your physician has checked your iron levels? Ferritin and % saturation

Hi - thanks for responding! Yes, I have had my iron labs checked many times. I have even travelled to Mayo Clinic and Duke Medical Center to be evaluated for IV iron despite normal ferritin and %sat, as I found some articles in the primary medical literature that IV iron could help despite normal serum iron levels. Everyone wants me to take gabapentin.

There's almost no research on the efficacy of CBD in treating RLS and the little that there is suggests it is no more effective then placebo.

Personally my experience has been that whole flower works very well. If Cannibas is effective at treating RLS, it's probably because of the THC.

Yes - I have found 18 independent reports in the medical literature of complete remission of severe RLS with THC. In most cases, they smoked it. Do you think there is a big difference between smoking it and vaping it? I have no idea.

The route probably doesn't matter much honestly. Whatever is most convenient and preferable for you is best.
Is there research on THC? I'm not super familiar with RLS liliterature
There's scattered reports, but nothing that would make me say "Yes, it is undeniably effective".

Probably no difference and vaping is better for the lungs. Have you tried edibles?

Are you on antipsychotics ? If it's akathisia just go to the store and buy some Diphenhydramine.

Yes - I take about 50mg of Delta 8 gummies a couple of hours before bed, then I rescue throughout the night with vape. It has been working great, but I'm starting to experience more breakthrough so I keep adjusting. I didn't realize vape is better for the lungs, so glad to know that. As far as I can tell, what I use is pesticide free. Thank you for responding!

Something I noticed is that tolerance builds pretty rapidly with delta8 so I try to use it as little as possible now. If I use it a few days in a row soon I need to start doubling my dose. I don't use it for RLS but ADHD rather

Oh wow! Yes, that is what I am noticing as well. I have ramped up rather quickly. What do you take on the non delta 8 days?

Be careful with vaping, Cousin. It can turn into it's own debacle.

Weed on the other hand? The elixir of Bob Marley.
