Cannabis +1 Government 0

Wait just a second...

The measure was to be voted on by the State Senate later in the afternoon, the final day of the legislative session. If passed, it would allow patients diagnosed with severe illnesses like cancer, AIDS, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis to have access to marijuana distributed through state-monitored dispensaries.

Gov. Jon S. Corzine has said he would sign it into law before leaving office next Tuesday.

Im confused...the senate still has to vote on it but the governor will sign it into law? What if the vote doesn't pass? Am I missing something?

I think it's implied that he would only sign it if it passes the senate vote. It looks like everyone is on board though so maybe he said that assuming it would pass the senate vote. From what I'm reading it sounds like the senate should be voting on this right about now or by the end of today.

I made this for those who give a shite

a step in the right direction for safe, legal use by responsible adults, and hey, med users in NJ can finally get medicine they need, too.

hurray for democracy doing its job for once

The Senate and the Assembly have to reconcile different versions of the bill, that's all. It's as good as done by this point though. The governor said months ago when the bill was introduced that he supported it and would sign it into law.

Today was the last day of the legislative session, so the Dem's pushed this through as a final hurrah.

Can you hear that? It's the sound of the foundation of prohibition beginning to crumble... =D

I <3 NJ.. dirty dirty for life %)

It should be noted though, under these new laws doctors can only prescribe cannabis to people with serious/terminal illness.. It is a nice start though, its great to finally live in 1 of the 14 states that isn't entirely blind to the obvious need for medicinal cannabis.
look at the fucking Southeast. what a goddamn tragedy.

In more ways than one ;)

basically, in every way possible. socially, culturally... I mean what the fuck is done right down here? even the food is awful.

i apologize for being so off topic but i'm just so pissed that i'm definitely going to have to move to another state to smoke without "the fear" b/c there's no way it'll be legal in my state before i die.

I hav a buldging disc which is equal too back spasms (on the list) and sciatia.... Most people live with a buldging disc in there backs but because the disc is not impinging on the nerv, they dont even notice...

I guess its not like other states, but its still open to interpretation. The law has a clause which also lets conditions be added to the list..

^
Yeah I'm sure over time the list will evolve into something more....... logical? ;)
