Opioids Canadian Hycodan 5mg : Can you IV them?

Okay before talking about micron-filters, i have the second best choice here, SteriFilts.

Canadian Hydrocodone in pills is very rare, hycodan is almost always served as syrup, but we got the advantage of it being pure, just plain tiny (slightly bigger than 4mg brand name Dillies) pills. Is hydrocodone like codeine about the danger of pulmonary oedema or it's like oxycodone, just a barely bettter BA ?

Yes, iirc, you can't IV hydro, period.
 
eh. in germany we have hydrocodone still available by it's original brandname, dicodid, without any other ingredients than hydrocodone. they're as okay to IV as pills most pills.
no idea about any other brand though.

Yeah, I have SteriFilts, they were made especially for IV'ing pills, look it up. I just want to know how dangerous it is like say IV'd codeine, some just repeat the phrase that it's like codeine and should never be done without proof...
 
i forgot about that. but yeah it makes sense since codeine and dihydrocodeine both pose the risk of pulmonary edema after intravenous administration.
just because i never had any problems doesn't mean you will too. scratch my previous comment.
 
Don't inject hydrocodone. While its not as risky as Codeine is, it's pretty pointless and from what I hear, a lame excuse to stick a needle into your arm. No rush, the onset is not even immediate, and hydrocodone has a really high oral BioAvailibility. If you want a quicker onset and a slightly better absorption, try rectal ROA?
 
hydrocodone is about as often prescribed as laudanum in germany. and while i certainly don't want to encourage anyone to mainline it, there's a notable difference between a 10mg pill injected or ingested.
 
I'm certainly not going to argue with you, as my statement was based only on the few experiences of others that I've read online, and I have to admit I'm kind of curious as to how it effected you. I always read that it released a pretty massive amount of histamine, and that the onset was still slow, relative to other IV opiates. I know personally that just because one ROA might have a slightly higher BA than the other, doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to feel stronger necessarily.
 
I bet most injections of hydrocodone in the medical world are relegated to IM usage, like codeine.

Hydrocodone has a stellar oral/rectal BA so there's 0 reason to inject it. From what I understand it is not a total prodrug like codeine, so while it may be unpleasant to inject it is not totally purposeless. It is a waste of a needle though.
 
for me personally, any drug administered IV felt stronger, perhaps solely because of the ritual involved and all.
however, i've had exactly 20 10mg pills of dicodid in my life, they are exceedingly rare, meaning in practice they are never prescribed. their only indication is 'painful and persistant dry cough unresponsive to other medications' hence my comparison to laudanum, which technically also still can be prescribed, just swap the cough with diarrhea.
it's been years since then, but it hit me quite hard, i cooked up 20mg and the first shot really did feel good, very much like the stronger opioids feel. it hit me like opioids usually hit me IV, i.e. fast and strong, but i also mainlined shitloads of flunitrazepam back then, at the time something like 10mg a day at least, so that may have something to do why i remember it so pleasantly.
 
Btw, before going to detox, 2 days before exactly, I ended up IV'ing 10mg of them pure hydrocodone pills, low dosage for cautiousness. And I did get pretty damn itchy, never mind the HYDROXYZINE, which I think is the strongest anti-itching medication out there. So yeah, it worked, eating 35mg was more fun tho, I can't explain why, and I mean the mental part.
 
histamine reaction can be severem plus the oral BA is so high why not just pop them orally. now if you had some kind of hydro pil with little to no fillers you could bump them, but id opt for taking them orally. ymmv
