I dont get it like if I shoot up in the same room all the time should I switch chairs? Does it actually effect the peak plasma levels of the heroin or is it just perception? confusing stuff......

There's a lot of info about this on google, man. It is an interesting subject..and I've heard it talked about more so as a possible cause for overdoses when people use outside of their familiar environment. It's why you should be careful when using in a new place.. the same dose you normally take can hit you much harder.

Here are just a couple of the many links I found doing a quick google search...

Set & setting basically.

Change your set & setting and your getting high in a new environment, which will trigger some different neuron/synapses and paths (in VERY laymans terms). Because addiction is also a habit, your become habituated when you continually use in the same set & setting. Changing that up changes up the neurobiochemistry of it. You could feel 10x as high or 10x more sober.

Be careful.

i get just as high if i'm in a good or bad mood with people i know or don't know i just have a better time if i'm in a good mood around people i know

This is a fairly interesting topic. I've never really heard much real info on the subject (I should check out those links) but I have experienced this in some real life situations as well. I've noticed that if I do a few bags on the car ride home it feels different than if I do the same exact amount in my usual spot. The human brain is a funny thing though, I can totally see this being possible.

this sounds like BS to me, I don't care what people have to "back it up" I'm not buying it lol

the only environmental thing that I've heard that can make a difference is elevation.. like I moved from maryland to colorado for a while before and the elevation is waaay higher, and therefore it supposedly would make any drug/alcohol hit you harder. besides that I find it hard to believe that sitting in a different part of my room would be diffferent then doing the same drug outside/whereever

I don't know how big of a difference it really makes.. studies have been done that claim it's a very real phenomenon... However, all I know is that I personally have never really noticed it. I use in different places all the time..and I've never felt higher doing the same amount from the same batch just by being in a new place.
