Opioids Can I add traditional opioids to a small methadone dose?

So theoretically if I have 30 mg of methadone, which does absolutely nothing to me except for keep the withdrawals away, and I want to get high with some known quality opium, and plenty of it, can I keep the methadone dose? I know that methadone has a much higher affinity for the receptors responsible for the high, but since I assume there are plenty more of those receptors that arent being triggered by the 30mg of methadone, would I get better results if I maintain the methadone at a low dose and add the opium? I realize this isnt exactly harm reduction stuff here, but lets just assume I am in no danger of overdose. Or, will the methadone, even in its low quantity, block out the morphine, thebaine, etc?

The average "Blocking" dose is 70 mgs and even then only after 4 to 6 weeks of regular usage. It blocks because of its super high affinity for the relevant receptors.

Considering opium, if you have been using methadone for a while, even 30 mgs, you will need a large quantity of opium (on average it only has a 10% morphine content of which you only net less than 4%, or in other words consider that only 4% of that opium will be the "good stuff").

You mention thebaine...You only need to worry about the morphine because unless you live in Tasmania you will only ever be finding minscule amounts of the substance in your opium. The "Norman" variety of poppy, trademarked by the Tasmanian Cooperative is specially bred for high thebaine content but at the expence of the morphine. Thebaine is worthless as a psychoactive. It is what can be made from thebaine that makes it desirable.

People have this idea that because Opium has so many alkaloids that they will be able to obtain some kind of synergistic effect. Not so at all, at least in any kind of discernible way.

so, could methadone be used as a traditional opiate in combination with lets say poppy grounds in order to get a stronger effect, given that the methadone is not taken daily, and in small amounts?

At daily doses under 50-80mg/day, Methadone does provide a cross-tolerance. This means Morphine, Fentanyl, Heroin, Oxymorphone, Oxycodone, etc are no problem. Depending how low the Methadone dose is, Dihydrocodeine, Hydrocodone, Propoxyphene, etc. arei nthe cards.

Despite whether or not it is possible to break the cross-tolerance barrier, it is not always wise. Side effects are often cumulative- respiratory depression, sedation/heavy sedation, constiipation, miosis, low blood pressure, etc.

Fatty: I am not sure what you mean by "traditional opiate" [sic] in that it is just as much an opiate/opioid as any other. It does have a rather unusual characteristic with regard to euphoria but that is neithere here nor there.

Poppy Grounds? You mean pieces of dried pod? You will not feel anything noticeable whether-or-not you you regularly dose with methadone. It is like comparing a foot scooter to a Harley Davidson. IF opium affords not discernible feelring, how much LESS will pods?

As Tchort noted there is a cross tolerance (actually the bottom number could be as minimal as 1 mg but the point is right) IF you have not been dosing regularly long term. In other words, any opiate/opioid theoretically potentiates any other as long as there is room on your receptors. Methadone has such an extremely high affinity for your receptors that you are not likely to feel anything regardless if your Maintenance dosage is 30 or 100. Technically though you could still be getting the less than desired effects such as (again, as Tchort noted) respiratory depression so forth and so on.

To sum it up, theoretically, at 30 mgs, you should be able to boost your high. In reality you most certainly will not and in fact make yourself vulnerable to overdose.

NO! YOU CANNOT! do NOT listen to people who claim you can get high on methadone by using other opiates or vica versa or whatever the fuck....think about it...the concept of methadone treatment is that it blankets (covers) your opiate receptors in your brain taking away your withdrawel and sickness but while not causing a major high or euphoric feelings.... I'm sure if you took enough you could feel it but it is pointless and not effective to try and take an opiate when your opiate receptors are effectively not accepting incoming neural transmitters etc because they being blanketed by the methadone...pick one or the other dude. methadones used to get off drugs...not to be used in combination with them....or atleast in my 8 yeras of experience. 4 of which as an opiate addict and 2 of which as an IV user.
