Cocaine Can a Small Amount of Cocaine Really be Deadly?

I remember reading somewhere that there really was no safe dose of cocaine, because it could cause a fatal heart arrhythmia. Does anyone know if this is actually true, or is this just somewhat of a drug myth? Can a small amount of cocaine really kill you?

Does anyone know of the smallest amount of cocaine that has ever killed someone? Not the LD50, but the lowest recorded dose that has ever produced death?

My friend uses heroin every so often, and he always raves about how nice nicotine or caffeine is to add a bit of stimulation to the experience. He wants to try adding a bit of cocaine, as he thinks it would be really nice, but he's never even done cocaine before. He always comes to me to ask for HR advice, as he knows I look things up a lot. I didn't know the answer, so I thought I'd turn to the people of Bluelight. I know that some people say that it's dangerous because your "heart is being pulled in two directions," but I know that is a drug myth.

He's super paranoid of having a heart attack, and so he wants to know if there is a risk of that from a small amount of cocaine. If anyone has any medical knowledge about this, I would really like to be able to pass some info onto him.

Thanks!

As far as the whole "cocaine sudden death" thing goes, it's not as common as the media makes it out to be, but people with heart problems and similar issues shouldn't take cocaine. Also your "friend" shouldn't combine the two, especially if it's his first time using cocaine.

Small amounts of high quality cocaine could be deadly to someone with a weak heart or some pre-existing condition due to the strain it puts on your cardiovascular system, but then again any stimulant can have that effect. I would advise against your friend mixing cocaine with heroin especially if it's his first experience with coke. When you mix stimulants and depressants the stimulant will cover up some of the effects of the depressant which can lead to an OD

Would there be a "safer" alternative to cocaine to provide some stimulation to the experience? I know that polydrug abuse has its risks, but if I can suggest something OTHER than cocaine, it may help my buddy choose a safer combo.

I can almost guarantee that in people where small doses of cocaine cause fatal heart arrhythmia they had prior cardiovascular issues.
I can't see why a small dose of a stimulant should be lethal to a perfectly healthy person.

Cocaine is cocaine.. there really isn't anything that feels like it and certainly nothing that could be considered any "safer".

All drugs have an inherent degree of risk obviously.. but if you know exactly what you're getting, know the strength of it, etc, that it isn't cut with anything harmful, use safe consumption practices (especially if IV'ing) then cautious dosing relative to your particular tolerance is a safe as you can get.
