"-Caine" family testing in pills.

I'm curious if there are any testing kits that are able to detect any "-caine" family ingredients in specifically MDMA/ecstasy tablets.

I was discussing this with a friend, and they expressed that they could not experiment with ecstasy, as they experienced severe issues as a child with lidocaine, benzocaine, and other -caine family drugs. They've been advised by a well-established academic allergist to avoid the family, except for carbocaine, which they've safely used in dental situations.

What's the prospect looking like for them?

uhh..lidocaine and benzocaine are the same arent they? and theyve been used as a binder. just touch some ground up pill to your gum i suppose to see if theyre in whatever pill.

My apologies, I made a huge error and I stand corrected. I meant "carbocaine" is the only one they can use safely. The other problematic "-caine" was novacaine. So that rules out lidocaine, benzocaine, and novacaine. They caused my friend to experience Steven Johnson's syndrome (2x) where all their skin sluffed off and they suffered for weeks and could've died.

get molly and touch it to gums? that is the only real way to determine it seems, tester kits wont detect binders it seems..

Procaine is the usual 'caine' used in pills but not that often to be honest - this year out of the samples tested by ecstasydata.org only four were found to contain a 'caine'.

In theory you can test for some of the 'caines' using a standard home kit but I honestly dont think the amounts used would give a reaction that you would actually notice.

There really isnt a safe way of doing this (Unless Im missing something?)

Fair enough, I appreciate the information.

This friend is comfortable taking a minuscule risk, but doesn't want to be too foolhardy.

Wouldn't pure molly be more at risk of being cut with cocaine or other numbing agents? In this case, maybe a (reputable) pill would be a safer choice for an individual like that...?

Yes your right - molly has a few chances of being cut along the way with anything.

Pills stay the same from the presser to the user so if you stick with something like mints, Pokeballs, Paul Franks etc then the chances of running into problems is much lower.

If your friend is willing to run the risk then they should take a small amount of the pill first to gauge reactions before just popping a full pill.

This obviously depends on the severity of your friends allergy.

Well, go order some benzocaine/larocaine/lidocaine powder from an online vendor, run it through your test kit, and post the results here :-)
