On reading alot of the studies about suboxone and bupe many say that in some cases a solution of ethanol (alcohol) 30 percent solution was used. It has a higher bioavailabilty, which sounds like slightly better abuse potential.

As anyone used this solution before and/or know what is in the solution. Anyone understand how by using alcohol it would increase the concentrations. My guess is that ethanol crosses through the membranes in the mouth quicker due to it's slight corrosive effects. So instead of that small amount that you swallow even when taken in tablet form, is not wasted because it is diffused through the membran alot quicker via ethanol?

Anyone have any info on this?

Are you talking about a Bupe/Ethanol solution meant to be taken sublingually??

Or Ethanol as a solvent for injection?

If you're talking about injection, Buprenorphine is only very slightly soluble in water (17mg/mL), so using a diluted Ethanol solution would increase solubility...
But that would be useful only if you would put more than 17mg Buprenorphine in 1mL...

Ya..Sorry to be unclear but I was talking about the solution meant to be taken sublingually. It must fairly concentrated to not be swallowed accidentally being a liquid an all.

No not for injection...IV is not my thing. I take my suboxone as Im supposed to but am very curious about the sublingual solution with better bioavailability.

maybe this will help...it is the injectible version and all of its info...this is the original formulation which is approved for pain only...not for opiate treatment..it has been approved since 1981 and was a schedule 5 until 2002 when the whole subutex thing started

oh..even though this is an injectible solution, many people have taken it sublingually with an eye dropper or whatever.
doctors let patients who couldnt handle needles do it that way

Thanks, but there is a sublingual solution. It is not available as far as I know. I've been looking into potentiating my bupe. Grapefruit juice is the only thing that I can get right now.

I have heard dropping a few drops of ethanol on the bupe tablet while holding it under your tongue would do something good. I don't know if it's faster absorption or better bioavailability, but this is the only "trick" I've heard some people using. :\

Right on....Ethanol as in vodka or something similar?. I believe it is absorbed better than just sublingual alone. It must help because the ethanol solution did have a better bioavailability during the tests.

Any idea how strong or concentrated the ethanol was when you heard about it?

I just don't have alot of exta sub to ezxperiemtn with so I would like to try once or twice.
