So anyone gone cold turkey from buprenorphine? What dose did you jump from, how long did it last and what helped?

I’m on 10mg and really need to be totally sober, personal reasons but they’re damn good ones.

So I took my last dose of 8mg (which was a drop from the day before from 12mg) on Monday and I still can’t feel any real withdrawals. Not saying they’re on their way but didn’t think they’d take this long to kick in.

So Sunday now and more yawning, edgy depression at times and close to tears most of the time - this is utterly linked to not seeing my daughter though. I’m really just trying to prepare for a thunderfuck of a week come Tue onwards. Wish me luck all.

So it's taken almost a full week for any w/d symptoms to hit?

That's amazing that it's taken that long. I don't know the extent of your opiate habit before you got on the bupe, but with any luck you may get off relatively lightly.

So I wish you Good Luck with that!

IIRC the w/ds usually can be felt within 24-48 hours and defintely after that sort of time period.

If you've not really experienced anything directly related to the w/ds 1 week later you might be some kind of biological miracle that escapes without any W/ds.

Or the other alternative is that your habit was small and of a short duration, and this is your first quit?

When I dosed 8mg more than 6 monts I could go without buprefor 48 hours without classical opioid withdrawal symptoms. But day 3-4 the symptoms you're describing were comming plus insomnia was setting firmly in. I hope that you are an outlier but if I jumped from 8-12mg I would be in a world of pain by day 6. Although buprenorphine was much easier to manage "day by day" than other opioids but the amount of days was most challenging part. Hope that somehow you are able to circumvent hardest part of the withdrawal.

Does sound like @Metamorpheus is an outlier with his reactions so far.

Some people weirdly can just escape without any w/ds.

Apparently Shambles used to be able to dose GBL heavily for prolonged periods and he never get w/ds. He did have some very specific way of dosing or w/ding to achieve this, and I can no longer recall what that was. But obviously most people cant use things like opiates or GBL for prolonged periods without nasty w/ds or rebounds. But there do seem to exceptions or outliers to these generalities, and outliers is such a good word.

I've worked with buprenorphine patients for a long time. My experience with those who start to suddenly abstain (getting arrested and losing access to meds for example) is that it takes 5-7 days once on maintenance to start experiencing full withdrawals. I often recommend to patients that the best way to come off is to get down to 4mg as quickly as possible, then drop to 2mg, and start skipping days, then 1mg, with days in between, then increase the number of days in between until you stop taking it all together.

When I tried to quit bupe cold turkey the wds didn't hit for a week. I thought I had already beaten it... then suddenly at work I felt so unwell I had to leave. I basically had no choice but to get back on or lose my job, as the withdrawal was gving me dilated pupils, ironically making my coworkers think I was on drugs, when in reality it was the opposite.

Why is it that the only way you can take that shit is via a film or tablet dissolved in your mouth? I hear it ruins the hell out of otherwise healthy teeth!

I jumped from 16mg and 30mg diazepam daily. Shit was 60 days of hell. Couldn’t open a Gatorade for at least 65 days…but I did it not the right way lol

@Metamorpheus how are the things going? Hope that you have some rare "genes to epigenetics interplay" that make your (or at least this one) kick of bupe less pronmblematic. How you've doing? Hope an update will be "I can't believe that the withdrawal is this easy.".

my experience.two years on bupe patch....after used it- extract all remains in it in alcohol solution.roa-buccal.quitt around six months ago from dose no less than 2-3mg.....cold turkey....trying first week which was most heavy-tramadol,which had absolutely no effect upon easing withdrawl....just here ....there is nothing....no choice...like i thought to myself before quitting-probably i'll go ill....and ofcourse-may be because lower imunity got ill-first week....so my memories are-very weak, very ill....all withdrawl lasts about month....with mood changes another month or two...it's a hard stuff to quitt baby....especialy if u on this more than a year....not such hell like methadone or opium withdrawl, but a long exhausting struggle forsure
