Today marks 4 days no opiates. I’m wondering if it’s possible to take buprenorphine as needed with out getting physically dependent on it. Any success stories or attempts please share! All info welcomed about opiates and MATs

I think you are definitely clear from precipitated WD..if you feel you can't stay clean or need a bit of relief from lingering wd symptoms then I would take 2mg or even 1mg..that's just me, I never take more than 4mgs they are strong..and if you c a n say taper down after a week I really don't think you a would have much issues with sub wd but you never know.

I highly, highly encourage you to not take bupe if you can manage not to.

Taking bupe will only reset and continue the physical dependence.

If you can make it 4 days, you can make it another 4 days, then you're completely clear of acute withdrawals and on your way to independence from addiction.

Depends on the reasons for using it I think.

Like if you’re using it for an occasional recreational experience (as someone with no-to-limited experience with other opioids) there’s a good chance that you’ll never become physically dependent on it. However, if you’re using it to treat chronic pain on an ongoing basis, probably more of a chance that you’ll eventually develop a dependency.

A lot of people go back to it again and again long-term without ever being physically dependent. I include myself in that category. Why do I go back, you ask? Because 1) it’s an opioid, 2) it’s relatively safe & widely available, and 3) it is DIRT CHEAP. People practically give the shit away around here

The calculus changes based on your own personal history with drug addiction though, obviously. If you ever go back to it, are the orange handcuffs getting slapped on immediately? Is there a time limit where, once you reach it, you can “safely” imbibe again? Important questions…I’ve never been prescribed buprenorphine or used it on a regular basis on the level many have so my knowledge is limited

Wish I was more aware or knew of this site when starting bupe many years ago Had a dr who put me on long term, 24mg/day plus Xanax. It’s been a long road to 8mg And reducing Xanax to half bar.

old tricks die hard, been dabbling with these blues. Wasn’t around in my day and junkie mind kicked in. Been two weeks, reduced bile in half and smoking 5 blues per day For a couple weeks.

we all hate WD, wondering if I should expect WD’s when stopping blues since I’ve maintained about 4mg of bupe per day.
don’t know if I’d call myself lucky but was able to feel the blues even with the bupe. Also felt the poisonous shit they put in it, wasn’t a clean high Definitely need to stop before this escalates. Any suggestions welcome, thank you.

I was able to kick a daily doctor advices MAT program of 16mg of buprenorphine and 15-30mg of Valium daily for 2ish years… if you have questions I’m happy to share my experience and what I have learned… also be careful as you know if you can feel the blues through the bup they probably aren’t oxy…

Hey I have a lot of questions, will you share your experiences with me?I’ve been doing almost a gram a day of this mystery powder( prob fent cut with some other bullsh#t) for too long and I want to get off soooo bad. I have all this bupe I’ve been stockpiling from my script in the hopes I can take it daily again…. I relapsed in Late may/early June after years of staying on my bupe script and not taking anything else. If bupe wasn’t so damn complicated this would’ve ended a month ago. I’ve been thinking of trying the Bernese method but I’m worried I’m just on to heavy of a dose of opioids/opiates for that to work. I dunno, what do you think? If ur listening please dm me or u can reply right here if that’s easier. Thanks in advance!

No

In my opinion, buprenorphine is just as euphoric as other opioids. ESP if used in LOW doses bellow 4mg. I take 18mg a day for maintenance and no more cravings. I’ve tried everything and honestly these past 12 years on Suboxone have really improved my life.

Was on methadone 11 years before that. I kiss the ground Suboxone exists and it’s free in Canada.

No desire to go off. It also helps my treatment resistant depression a lot. I think it’s because it’s a KAPPA antagonist

Ps. Plus the half-life is so long that even if you skip a few days it’s gonna still be in your blood.

Dope. I was on 15mg of bupe for a year and the first 2 weeks of just 2mgs I remember being incredible. Then everything went downhill and the dose kept going up and up. What are the MAT programs in Canada? Are the programs available to foreigners?

We have Methadone and Suboxone same day clinics. Also, any family doctor can RX suboxone. No need for a MAT doctor. We also use KADIAN now (long acting Morphine) that people can take with their methadone.

Last resort, if you have failed one of the above, you qualify for Hydromorphone treatment. They prescribe 24 8mg Dilaudid pills a day.

I personally think that is crazy. I don’t believe that injecting pills is harm reduction, but the government believes otherwise. I mean at least hand out ampules 🤷‍♂️

Is Kadian or Dilauded treatment available to US citizens? I have been on and off buprenorphine and it’s not good for me. I’m going to be switched to Kadian for my detox but ideally would like to stableize sooner and the clinic is suggesting I do so if possible. Only can get oxycodone in US tho…
What and how if so could I obtain? Only here for a week!

you would have to be living here and you would need to pay for it. Only citizens and landed immigrants get free healthcare

only other option is you say you are a refugee but considering you live in the US I don’t think that would work :)

Alright so I got a lot to do today. My body hurts like hell. I haven’t slept in two days. So far today has been 600mg gabapentin, 2mg lunesta (didn’t work) and then finally tried some kratom but nothing made me hot sweaty and have to go to the bathroom. I don’t like kratom at all. Could I try a sub? Like an 1/8th of a 2mg sub? I just need to get through the day and the skeletal pain is unreal

I’ve now been off of kratom for 3 days. Wondering if I could use my subutex for 1-3 days to get through the acute days of WD from kratom? Anybody have experience with or advice? It wouldn’t just push off the withdrawal cause it’s a different chemical right? Or would it?

I can not keep my hands off of oxy if I have it. I always get fucking high of it until I am out.

I can keep my hands off of bupre maybe one or two days in the first week but then I seek myself to some kind stable medicated state, with slowly escalating doses, and occasional nod with other drugs that are questionable to combine with bupre. And I will do it until I am out. While recognizing obvious side effects and the lifestyle it brings (get fucked in the evenings).

I’m thinking about doing one or two doses for the upcoming travel/withdrawls/life but going to need to be careful to not just switch kratom for bupe

I need to know how long you have been using for and the dose?

Using buprenorphine to help with the withdrawals of kratom seems like using a sledgehammer to hit the head of a nail to me personally

Kratom also has a very unique withdrawal. It is not only restricted to the opioid receptors

I would suggest going on buprenorphine then

I don’t understand if you have problems staying off Oxy then buprenorphine is fine

I went on buprenorphine and I am on 18 mg a day now and have been on the same dose for 11 years because eventually you hit a ceiling dose and believe it or not the cravings actually go away. I still get a slight glow every day. I take my dose as well.

I have panic disorder. My doctor has no problem prescribing me 5 mg of alprazolam per day as well as my 40 mg vyvanse.

It’s all about honesty with my provider
