hello everyone, i have been using suboxone every day iv for about 3 months. yesterday when i used i didnt get the normal feeling i get from it and i couldnt figure out why because it was the same amount if not more than i usually use. Even when i looked in the mirror my pupils were normal size (usually when im on bupes my pupils get ridiculously pinned) does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Thanks alot and it nice to meet you all.

Surely you have heard of tolerance, haven't you? That seems to be the simple answer. Your body is simply used to this dose by now, which is causing the buzz to diminish.

of course i have heard of tolerence but i have even tried doubling my normal dose today and the effects were next to nothing. even if i have built up a tolerance wouldnt my pupils still constrict with the introduction of an opiate?

When I was first prescribed bupe, I was so excited thinking "wow this is what they are giving me to stay off of other opiates, thats awesome". I was extremely high, noddy, and my eyes were pinned. This lasted for about a week, and the only time that that euphoria would return would be if I took enough time off to start feeling sick, and then dose.

I was on a high dose though (16mgs sublingual). Many posters here have better, more positive experiences at lower doses for a longer period of time. I believe they IV ~.3-.7mgs for said effects.

Maybe, but that antagonist is getting more and more active with higher dosage. Plus if I read the studies right, the body builds a tolerance faster to the agonist, and takes longer with antagonists. Im quite sure all of this is starting to kick you in the ass.

If I may ask, why on earth are you injecting your subo><one? Arn't you on it to get away from these types of problems(tolerance, dependance, i.v use) and improve your life? Or is it simply the easiest, or only opiate you can get your hands on, and simply just feeding your addiction?

Keep in mind Im not judging or criticizing you as I have been known to bang a few pills myself. (That may be a tad bit of an understatement)=D

Im just curious........dont take offense....

no offense taken. i am not prescribed bupes i buy them off my one buddy thats on them or he gives them to me to mow his grass or take him to the store lol. i use them because i used to be addicted to heroin and xanax and i quit those went to rehab and recently relapsed. i went to bupes because they are hard to od on and are relatively safe and i bang them because i am more addicted to the needle than anything. for some reason just injecting somethng gives me a high even if its just water

EDIT---- I just did an approximately 2mg shot of sub which is about twice or 3 times my normal dose i am feeling the effects kick in so maybe i actually am developing a tolerance. can you get physically addicted to buprenorphine?

yes you can and will get addicted to bupenorphine the same as you get addicted to any other opiate.

I have heard that bad suboxone withdrawals are a kick in the ass acctually

This sounds like the most logical reason by far.
Tolerance and the Antagonistic effects becoming superior to the Agonist effects.

Sorry, but you may have to cut down for a while :\

I'm going out on a limb here, but is it possible that the reason that lower dosages produce a consistant effect is because when shooting say .2 mcg, it's just such a small dosage that even with a long half life, there's still little bupe in you, so you don't build so much of a tolerance.

buprenorphine, oh what a drug. it is the love of my life right now. i dont love it, but i have to treat it like a lover. been on it 5 yrs.

your honeymoon with bupe is ending. you are getting a tolerance and the higher doses you go the more the antagonist effect kicks in so you really are not going to get much out of raising the dose. FUCK yeah its physically addictive. i have tried getting off it and its impossible. after years of it my body cant function without it. its the post acute withdrawals that are HELLACIOUS and seemingly never stop. i mean months and months of the shit and it never really lets up.

you are probably going to want to lower your dose, take a break, or get a script. 3 months aint no thang, but once you hit a year you are going to have a hard fucking time getting off the shit. it helps you stay away from dope, yes it does, takes care of cravings and the needle fixation....so just run the pros v cons. for me its a no brainer since i cant get off it, but even if i had that option id probably stay on it cause i just go right back to slamming H.

i suppose this sounds depressing and like im a slave to it, but i have come to terms with it. it is just a pill i have to take everyday like a diabetic takes his insulin. <Edit- Pegasus... You know why>

^It certainly isn't impossible to come off. If your mindset ever changes from "I need it; it is my insulin", then it will be possible for you to quit. When you tell yourself that you have to have it, it will certainly be nearly impossible to quit.

Ive been on Subs for YEARS as well, and LOL...when I first started, I just did the quickie like 6 week program that starts you tapering right away (to get free of a Hydro addiction...was taking about 14 Norcos about every 3 hrs...OUCH...talk about vomit city!). HA! I couldn't figure out why after a few days of stopping the Sub I wanted to crawl out of my freakin skin and was pizzing out of my ass so bad (TMI I know). The clinic told me that there are no w/d's with Sub. LOL! LIES! The w/d's are brutal, and like the poster above said...the longer you are on it, the worse it is (as with most any drug). The one thing tho...it kept me (past tense sadly) clean for a LONG time...zero cravings..nothing. Thanks to it I have have been able to keep my recreational use at this point strictly recreational, using Sub most of the time. It has an extremely long half life and usually less is better. Most people really only need a small amt for detox...but often are given a much too high dose. The best advice is to SLOOOOOW down for tolerance reasons...your usage seems awfully high. Sub can VERY easily be tapered. Ive done it before many times. Its the last step (stopping all together that is the hard part) How often do you use? daily? More than once daily? It's a great drug for detox/recovery, but like anything, it has its limitations and you're def substituting one opiate for another. I have nothing but good things to say about it though, as it really has helped me.

never understood suboxone or bupe, it just works for some and doesnt for others, and then it just stops working

yeah i generally do about 6 mg a day which for me is about 4-5 shots. i know im substituting one opiate for another im using it pretty much recreationally. in my mind it just seems better to be doing subs than heroin. since ive been on them i have no desire to do any other drugs at all not just opiates. i dont even care about weed anymore. but im going to try college in the fall and i want to quit doing bupes before i go. im only 19 years old but i have alot of experience with drugs
