Haven't used any opiate in over a month, so I'm wondering what an appropriate bupe dose would be for recreational effects. Back when I used smack, I'd use 8mg of bupe to help with withdrawals (which was overwhelming, to be honest...a lower dose could've done the job), but it's been a while since I took subs and an even longer time since I last took dope. I was thinking 2mg would be a safe estimate. Anyone have any insight regarding a month of sobriety between dosing?

AT low doses most of the bupe is converted to the much stronger norbuprenorphie, try 0.5-1mg. Less is better.. they give opioid naive people 0.1mg for pain...

I agree with sekio. When I'm was on suboxone maintenance I took 1mg a day, split into two .5mg dosages. I felt buorenorphine's effects far more at these low dosages on maintenance than I did when I was taking even 2mg a day. If you havnt used opiates in a while, I'd try .5mg max, and make sure to give it an hour to kick in.

I would dose no more than 250 micrograms to start with (0.25mg)

Buprenorphine is one of those drugs where it's worth the patience for chronic dosing. I usually start off with 100 micrograms then redose another 100 and then another 100 then another 100 etc. until I'm where I want to be.

I think an important question to ask the OP is what ROA he is thinking of taking the sub with. Due to the difference in BA, the starting dosages could vary significantly.
