Hi, to start with I was on a 3mg clonazepam regimen for about 4 months. About 2 months ago I was prescribed 2mg Alprazolam/day and then Last month up to 4mg Alprazolam/ day. I have also been on Suboxone for about 2 1/2 years. After reading the way most people tapered from Suboxone I realize I may have more problems with the withdrawals. I only tapered down to 4mg/day and I only have 4mg left for tomorrow. I am also tapering down from the 4mg Alprazolam at the same time. (3mg x 4days, 2.5mg x 6days, 2mg x 8day, 1.5mg x 6 days, 1mg x 5 days and finally .5mg x 4 days.)

So I am wondering if anyone has done anything similiar at all to this or has any good opinions on how bad this could be or if I am just over reacting because I've been through opiate withdrawal 3 times and it was hell so I am expecting the worst but hoping I am wrong.

Please respond with opinions or advice.

Thank you

Your taper wasn't ideal, sine 4mg is still a pretty high dose (imo) to jump off at. Bupe withdrawal can be pretty long and drawn out as well, and the xanax taper you are undertaking at the same time may not make it any easier. Is there any way you could put off your xanax taper and stay at 4mg a day until you are through with the bupe withdrawal?

Are you doing this on your own or with the help of a doctor?

I probably could get another prescription for xanax and bupe, but I'm just finally at a point where I can't let pills (ANY) ruin my life anymore. They have done so much damage and I've been on some kind of medication for at least 5 years and its pushed my family away and all I have left is my home and my girlfriend of almost 3 years. I'm doing it on my own, with her help. She is holding the xanax and giving me the dose I wrote down on a schedule for her because I can't trust myself to do it. I just want to be completely clean and never go back.... I was just wondering how bad it actually was going to be... I have heard some people say it's not any worse than opiate withdrawal and some that say it is a lot worse and can last months and some people say you can develop P.A.W.S., which I've read can last up to a year.... So I was just hoping someone had any advice or knew of any OTC stuff I should do to try and ease it a little bit. But as long as its not going to kill me, I don't want to ever get another prescription of either cause I can't control it.... Thank you for your response!

I switched from 8mg of clonazepam, 1200 mg of Lyrica and 500mg of Tramadol, everyday for 4 years, to just 400mg of Carisoprodol for 1 month, the withdrawals lasted 2 days, but I could feel the difference from quiting cold turkey from the first day. Alternatively you can take Baclofen.
I quit the clonazepam 2 mg every 4 days and the other drugs cold turkey, so you can say it can always get worse.
