Hello! I am in Spain at the moment and went to the doctor yesterday whom prescribed me bromazepam 1.5 mg for flight anxiety. He did not tell me much about it at all and I am therefor here to ask you with knowledge about benzos some questions.

Will one tablet (1,5mg be enough for me?). How long before my flight should I eat this medication?

I have only tried 15mg oxazepam twice for fear of flying so I don't have any tolerance to benzos.

Thank you in advance.

To my knowledge Bromazepam is only available in 3mg and 6mg tablets..
I think 6mg of Bromazepam is equivalent to around 10mg of Diazepam. With no tolerance this should help. Maybe take the Bromazepam an hour before your flight and then maybe a beer or 2 should help knock you out if that is what you require..

You're are probably very different to me, but please be aware, this is exactly how my Benzo addiction/hell began. Back in April 2009 I went to my G.P as I had a phobia of flying, she prescribed me 8x2mg Diazepam for both my flights (Outward & Return) I did some research and came to the conclusion that this would not be enough, so purchased more. For the next 6 Months I would use 10mg of Diazepam every Sunday night to help me sleep, which worked great, with no rise in tolerance. Then, I also discovered Alprazolam, so for short haul flights, I would take maybe 2-3mg Alprazolam, and for long haul flights I would take 40mg Diazepam. Both of which would knock me out cold!

Fast forward a Year and I would be bingeing on 100's of mg's of Alprazolam or 1000's of mg's of Diazepam or whatever Benzo I could get my hands on.

I'm what you would probably consider an 'extreme case'. It's now over 6 Years after this, and my fear of flying has receeded slightly, yet I still occasionally use either Diazepam/Temazepam/Alprazolam and/or Baclofen/Pregabalin to help with my Anxiety & Insomnia.

I won't try to put you at ease with statistics about how safe flying actually is (Which actually prove it is almost unbelievably safe!) I think you're actually more likely to be struck by lightning. Anyway, as I understand what it's like to have a phobia of flying, no amount of reassurance will put you at ease.

Safe travels.

First of all I'd like to thank you for taking your time to give me these advice. I really appreciate it.

The tablets I got was lexatin 1.5 mg so i guess it is a very low dosage then.

I was thinking about taking 3mg but as you say it might be better with 6mg.

I will most likely not drink any alcohol, isn't it quite a dangerous combo to mix alcohol and benzo? I'd like to be able to take care of myself and not be completely gone in my head.

Once again, thank you for your help and I wish you all the best with getting out of your benzo dependency.
