Broken glass bowl/slide stuck in diffuser, help to get them apart?

Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with my bong.

I have an Ehle that is glass-on-glass, with the glass slide/bowl head going into the diffuser, which is the stem that reaches down into the water. I went to pull the slide out yesterday, and it got stuck and broke. The slide didn't shatter, it's close to a clean break.

Anyway, part of the slide is stuck insider of the diffuser! It looks like there is a little "lip" or something that the glass is jammed on. The diffuser has all the little holes at the end, and I've tried jamming a paperclip down there to push the broke glass out. Now, it's sitting in 91% rubbing alcohol, and thus far I still can't get the glass to budge. It's a rather pricy piece, and just replacing the slide isn't very expensive, but I'd rather not have to buy a new diffuser when the diffuser isn't broken, it just has a piece of broken glass stuck in it.

Any ideas as to how the heck I can get the glass out of there?
 
Let it dry in the sun a few days to evap all the water. You could heat it over the stove and then let it cool first so the glass isnt expanded. Bend a wire hanger in a U shape at the end, and try to hook the end of the slide joint from the female end of the diffuser, right were there may be a sort of bump where the slide meets the diffy.
 
^ that actually sounds like it could work..do you think letting it soak in some rubbing alcohol for a while to get rid of any of the resin that could make it stick even worse is a good idea? Or should I just get it near a fan?
 
Resin is what is going to give you the most issue - trying running the glass under very hot water and lightly forcing it out - you dont want to break the glass.

I do this whenever someone taps my downstem into my glass bong in way to hard, and it gets jammed in. Sometimes it requires boiling water, but a little twisting and turning (as much as you think you can safely get away with) is going to probably be the most direct solution.
 
twist up a paper towel

into a pointy witch's finger so its getting thicker at one end

jam into the broken opening then twist while gently pulling

worked for me...
 
Hmm, just for extra info, I super cleaned it a couple days ago so there isn't too much resin there, it's just like a faint brownness. I'll see what else people suggest over night and then will try all this stuff tomorrow.
 
lol you already did what I would have said, put her in alcohol n get all the gunk out of the equation possible. You cleaned the hell out of it and it is still stuck? haha I'll take a look at it later if you haven't got it to budge. Hard to guess without seeing it, could you blow through the diffuser holes and blast the glass out that way maybe? If not it can be paper-clipped-out.

I have a feeling that they will only sell the diffuser/ bowl combo at that shop, might have to go off brand for a new solo bowl, but even if you end up forced to buy the *sieg* ehle stem/bowl pair these things happen so we will have to find a way to save the diffuser, if only to keep in your spare parts kit.

If it's still jammed I'm thinking some heat applied to the outside might help..
 
I got it out! What I ultimately did was hold the diffuser with a towel, and a paper clip in the other hand, made a loop, and just forced it out...after it soaked in rubbing alcohol all night. The diffuser is perfectly fine somehow, I was holding both the paper clip and end of diffuser with a towel so in the event it did break, I didn't get glass in my hand (broke a glass screen in my hand and had to pull out some glass maybe a week ago, maybe I'm getting careless.)

And dragynfyr, you are absolutely right, I was told that you can't actually buy even the diffuser/slide combo, they don't sell ANYTHING separately...they told me I could practice my german and see if the website would help but I settled on a different slide. It's shaped funny on the inside, it's much smaller and is supposed to not need a glass screen. It's red so it sorta throws off the color scheme but whatever. Apparently they did have a random spare for the larger sized bong, but could not give me the EXACT FREAKIN PIECE I WANTED AND NEEDED that they had unless I repurchased the entire unit.

/end thread I think, I know this was self serving, but perhaps it'll help someone who has broken glass stuck in not broken glass in the future.
