A couple weeks ago, I was in a pretty bad car accident and got my face smashed up a little bit, and busted my arm pretty good. Earlier this week I finally got a fiberglass cast put on which beats the hell out of the splint and 10 lbs worth of bandages I had on before (which also smelled like ass after spending a few days in detox, a few of which were cold turkey, where I sweated my ass off and couldn't shower due to the fact I wasn't allowed to have a plastic bag, even though I'm not depressed or suicidal in anyway). I am now on Suboxone and doing quite well in an intensive outpatient program. I have been having a bit of a problem with sleep since I started, so I began running a few miles each day to tire myself out and help repair my mind and body. The main problem I have been having is after jogging for an hour or so on the treadmill at 5-6 mph, I am sweating my ass off. And I sweat even worse under the cast, and when I shower the cast has to be covered by a plastic bag since it cannot get wet. I have been trying my best to keep my hand clean and dry, but attempts are futile as 15 minutes later, it will be sweaty and foot smellin' again. I have also attempted to apply a little cologne to the cast, but this turned in to an even more rancid smell that carried further and I was very glad once it wore off.
So I was wondering if anyone on here had similar experiences and found a bit of a solution, or a good way to cover it up. I'm not a very self conscious person, but this smell wafts up to my nose quite a bit, and is more irritating than anything. I also don't want the ladies who think I'm a badass due to my facial scars being turned off by my hygiene when they catch of whiff of what seems to be my feet.
Can I use baby powder or something under the cast? I really have no idea, but this is something that has been bothering me, and my doctor doesn't really have much advice other than stop sweating so much, but I really don't want to give up my running as it has helped me make great strides in recovering from my addiction, and after a few miles I feel energized, happy, and when I get off the treadmill, I stumble around just like I had a few shots and a joint for a few minutes which is fun as well. I just have to return to work soon, and I don't want customers a co-workers to have to deal with it!!!
P.S. I wish Bluelight had one of those green-faced, I'm about to hurl smilys. It would be really appropriate for my situation, and probably a lot of others.
