Tested a pill with the reagent and it came back about the same color as the sad face I used in conjunction with this post. A very bright light purple with no black or even a hinting of black.
Anybody know what substance this could be. I have tested numerous pills and this isn't a typical mdma or mdma like reaction.

hi, i had pills with the same results. I took three of them anyway and I felt really spaced out all night. no body buzz, no lovey feeling, just really really fucked up dazy. it was kind of kool though because i knew i prolly wasn't going to roll.
does anyone know what this might have been.

I would tend to agree with aj.
Although EZ-Test is not designed for opiates, Mereck states that Marquis Reagent is used to detect opiates, which will result in a pale purple colour... perhaps..
BTW: how did this pill affect your pupil dialation?

chem gen give this as the reaction to opiates:

i've seen this result to heroin, altho the pink/purple was much more vivid.

I just tested a Tylenol 3...no color change whatsoever so I think we can rule out codeine.
I retested the original pill and color change was very similar to the colors that Johnboy listed. Not quite as red as the earliest reaction. After sitting for about 60 seconds the purples got as dark as the listed purples. The colors in the middle fairly well illustrate the immediate reaction.
I didn't take any of the pills so I can't give you an answer on the pupil dilation.

so was there a vivid reddish/pink? i'm beginning to think that there is possibly some form of opiate present. tylenol often doesnt give a good indication of the opiate reaction... do you live in america? if so i'd really recommend sending this pill into dancesafe...

Good idea....I will send into dancesafe and repost in this forum when I notice that the pill has been tested and posted.
And yes, the more closely I looked, there was definitely a reddish/pinkish hue. However, the color did appear to be more purple than red.
Thanks for all of the advice.

curious...what kind of pill was this???

Just a note: I once tested a pill on one of those coated Dixie paper plates and got the same reaction that you mention. I thought it had to have been the paper plate so I retested on a white ceramic plate and the result this time was normal or typical for MDxx. Did you use a ceramic plate?
