So, for a class of mine, i am writing a paper about breaking social norms, preferably in public.
i have,
-Greet random strangers
-When asked how Im doing say dying
-Dress weird/ old person/ high pants, shirt tucked in
-Act amish w/ a friend coming out of the amish country
-Get in an elevator and face the back of the elevator
-Class or random public place and yell why is everyone looking at me, and act like nothing happened
-Cross dress in public
-Look up in public and see how many others look up
-Narrating your life in public w/ comment about surroundings.

Any other ideas?

bah, i thought this was going to be about a paper offering ways to change unhealthy/illogical social paradigms. instead, it's just random shit about how to act like an oddball in public. no offense, but nothing about this suggests a legitimate academic paper to me. what class is this for, again?

Only tip for service that is deserving.

Cut in front of the queue for the bus or at subway

Drinking beer in a cinema

Depending where you are from, eating dog or horse meat

watch nightmare on elm street backwards so it's about a guy putting kid's limbs back on so they can go to summer camp

reaching out to a group of anonymous junkies for academic inspiration and ideas is something you can write about

Yeah, rather than "breaking social norms" this project should just be about how to freak out random people in public... Not exactly anything new... but yeah.

Another one fitting with the tone of your list would be to go into a movie theater, in one of the early shows where it isn't very full in there, and sit RIGHT by someone when there are plenty of available seats elsewhere.

This happened once to me and it completely freaked me out to where I moved. I felt kinda bad, didn't want to insult the guy but the vibe he was giving me was just totally weird. There were literally about four other people in the theater aside from me and the person I was with and he sits right by me... lol wtf.

You should title the paper, "How to act like a fool in public." Past the 'breaking of social norms' what are you talking about in the paper? What level of school is this for?

What exactly is the social norm? Because in my experience everywhere you go the environment changes and we adapt.

This does not sound like a solid experiment to write a paper on with the ideas listed. My suggestion would be define the norm in a specific area then challenge that norm. Your topic is to broad .. you need to narrow it down.

my freshman year of college i got stupid high before class one morning, well every morning really...but this one morning i'm stoned out of my mind, sitting on a bench, drinking coffee and minding my own business when these two people came and sat down right beside me, like touching me on either side and they didn't say a word, just stared at me. i was a bit of nervous freshman at the time and like i said, was super fucking high so i didn't really know how to react. needless to say, there was a brief awkward moment followed by me finally mustering up the courage to ask "can i help you?"

they told me they were writing a paper on how people react in abnormal social situations and asked if they could ask me some questions. i told them that i was blazed as shit and didn't feel like it.

college - what a waste of money.

on the same tip go in random public bathrooms and always use the urinal right next to someone already there.

How else are you supposed to sword fight from across the bathroom?

Washing your hands before heading out into public would seem to be breaking the social norm.

You are using urinals now?

Edit--

Try answering your cell in a crowded theater halfway through the movie. "hey man whatsup? .... No im ot doing anything, just seeing a movie....no its fine i can talk, i saw it last week....yeah dumbledorf dies......so whats going on with you?......" etc.
