So who impresses you and who could you strangle to death for being so irritating?.

Some nasty ones that spring to mind:
Clive Owen-Sin City
Bob Hoskins-Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Robin Williams-Mrs. Doubtfire

And one that constantly impressed me was Rachel Griffiths in Six Feet Under. Vey natural sounding imo.

Your turn :)

Giovanni Ribisi in the Other Sister is about as good as it gets, though I'm not sure that counts as an accent? :D

Also I thought Philp Seymour Hoffman did a great Truman Capote

some bad ones.....hmmm..

Don Cheadle - Ocean's 11/12

that's the one that's standing out in my mind right now I'll add some more when i can think.

Bad: Christopher Lambert in anything

Good: Gary Oldman in anything

Wow, Malkovich really needs a dialect coach. I want to see him tackle a Mandarin accent next.

I freakin loooove Gary Oldman.

Best
~ Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love & Emma.

Kinda Not
~ Renee Zelwegger in the Bridget Jones series...I dunno it was
kind of too clipped and unpleasant really.

Worst
~
Alicia Silverstone doing an excruciatingly HORRIBLE southern accent in Beauty Shop. Listening to it is like listening to long hooker nails on a blackboard.
~
Keanu Reeves in absolutely EVERYTHING. Especially in Bram Stokers Dracula and Devils Advocate. EEEEEEW.
~
Angelina Jolie as the awful mother in Alexander. NEED I SAY MORE?

Charlton Heston as Mike Vargas, a Mexican narcotics agent in Orson Wells, Touch of Evil. okay well lets just say lack of any mexican accent its really baffling.

I don't watch much telly anyway but thought I'd post in TGs thread anyway for general randomness and maybe I can get reported and get that *bad boy* image I've so far unsuccessfully tried to create for myself on BL !!

Damn I never seem to be bad enough , perhaps if I think in scouse or something when I type it might have better results !!!
Hi TG ;) :D

Bad: Joe Pesci in Casino

Good: Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York

Great thread idea!

Ugh... that accent makes me wince every time I hear it. It's like his agent said to him, "Look, Don, we need to get you a voice coach if we're gonna land this role of a blue-collar Londoner... but don't worry, we've gt you lined up with one of the best in the business... DICK VAN DYKE!!!!!"

OH MY GOD!!! :D:D:D How could I forget (or forgive) poor Keanu?

Isn't that just the most abysmal attempt at an English accent? "Oi moight be a pooer labrur, but oi now wot I..."

Oh do shut up Keanu, before you embarrass yourself further. Stick to saying the word "Woah!"

Dick Van Dyke has a lot to answer for.

It's a brilliant joke, she comes off as borderline retarded...
Come on, that's unfair. The director told her to 'be herself', she was only following orders! :)

Now now, zophen, let's at least *try* not to embarrass poor tribal_girl in her new job, like two annoying old uncles! The poor girl's taking a 'beamer' already... i.e. one of these: :o

NOW BACK ON TOPIC::D

BEST: Has to be Brad Pitt in 'Snatch' %)

'Di ye like DAGS?' etc. etc. Brilliant performance, could hardly make out a word he said, but still, hilarious anyway!

WORST: John Malkovich in 'Being John Malkovich'. So bloody unrealistic and forced, know what I mean?

best ..Allesandro Nivola- Brit accent in "Laurel Canyon"

Ben Kingsley-Indian accent in "Gandhi"

Kenneth Branagh with his southern drawl in " Gingerbread Man"

Christian Bale also has a great American accent in anything he does, but that could be considered cheating cos even though he was born in UK, he has been living in USA on and off since he was 17.

Worst- Dick Vandyke- Cockney accent in
"Mary Poppins"
