Which water pipe gives the best hits? Which water pipe is made the best and made of the toughest materials? Preferably which water pipe is/was made well, gave great hits(though some pipes made today ARE VERY expensive!), and got you really stoned?

I started smoking weed at 12, in 1980, but I didnt use a bong til a few years later for the first time. I smoked my last weed back in like '98, so I've been out of the loop for a while now.....

In the 80's and 90's, you could buy lots of different, cheaper water pipes in every shape you could imagine, but they mostly were not made very well, as they were just cheap, thin plastic.

But there were 2 really fine examples of bongs that I don't think could even be matched today!

1. There was the "Tokemaster". That was the original name, but then the gov't started harassing them, so they changed the name to "Tobaccomaster", and even included a sample of tobacco. They also apologized in their literature for having to change the name! They then changed the name to "Original TM".
This water pipe was very simple in design. It was constructed of very, very thick, clear thermoplastic(or similar), which was pretty much unbreakable.
It was just straight, and had an area cut out to fit your mouth at the top. The stem went into the main pipe at an angle, and it was fairly high up on the pipe, causing the bottom of the stem to be submerged deep in the water. It also had a separate stand for it to sit in. The pipe came in different heights, from like 12" - to about 30" high. The taller ones gave better hits, but the short ones were great too. It required a lot of lung pressure to get it going, but it gave a HUGE hit!8o

2. The other choice was the older 'sawhandle' "Apogee". This was also made of thick thermoplastic, and came in different colors. It was 'V' shaped, and had basically 3 different chambers. It had a wooden 'sawhandle' between the 'V' shaped pipes. It had to be held at a downward angle to hit it. It also gave HUGE hits. The Apogee company mad a few different designs, but the 'sawhandle' design was best.:)

I saw a forum where a guy claimed to have bought out the rights to the "Tokemaster" name, and was going to be producing them again, but that was 2 years ago, and I don't see any sign of them yet.......:(

On the positive side, the "Apogee" is back now, under a different name: "Xpogee". It is available online at a Breckenridge CO head shop called "High Altitude", and their website is aheadhigher.com. The new Xpogee looks identical to the old 70's and 80's Apogee, with the only difference being the colors. They are only like $55 too.=D

Both of these bongs were reasonably priced also, which means a lot, considering today's best bong, the ROOR, costs as much as $330+! I also read where a guy dropped his a short distance and it broke! So then you are shit out of luck!

I could NEVER see spending $300 on a water pipe! Especially if it can easily break! Maybe if I was a multi-millionaire(and I still smoked pot), I would consider it. But you know that the ROOR company can make these pipes for a small fraction of what they are charging for it! It probably only costs them $10 to make the damn thing! I'm almost offended that they would have the audacity to charge that much!:p

I'd recommend buying an Xpogee..........;)

Anyway, whats your choice of best bongs?
