Bergman?
Fellini?
Tarkovskij?
... etc.

All great auteurs! Anyone els who likes movies from theese fabolous guys? When it comes to Bergman my favourite movie is "Fanny & Alexander" (the long 5-hour version). Its more simple than his other movies, but still complex

When it comes to Fellini i prefer his later period: Satyricon, Roma, Amacord, City of women... Fellini is like no other!

Tarkovskij: Solaris. The best version, not comparable to the georgle-clooney version (urgh!)

big fan of fellini's satyricon but i havent seen anything else by him. are all of his movies as disjointed as satyricon was? i have to be in the right mood to watch it and enjoy it.

yep, i quite enjoyed solaris too, but i'm yet to see the version with clooney. fellini's great i think (roma and 8 1/2 immediately come to mind. strangely, i've watched *very* little bergman, so probably couldn't comment. just another director on that massive list that i need to watch more :\

pitty so few people are replying to this, looks like fellini, tarkovsky and co. aren't too popular around here.
solyaris would be the only tarkovsky film i've seen so far, it's fantastic and probably better than the soderbergh version ( which isn't really bad, but i prefer soderbergh's non-commercial/remake stuff).
fellini is great, but like with most "independant/art-house/whatnot" directors i have to be in the right mood to appreciate his movies, can be tough sitting through a movie with almost no narrative but just loosely connected scenes.
sadly i haven't seen any bergman movies yet, "persona" is right on the top of my list though. otherwise i'm a big kubrick, lynch, jodorowsky fan (anybody seen "holy mountain" or "santa sangre"?), and i love soderbergh's "schizopolis" and "full frontal".
