Hello everyone! I'm a long time reader and new member from the UK.
Years ago a doc put me on diazepam and he continued prescribing it for about 2 years. It really helped my anxiety but obviously I got addicted. I moved to a new city so had to get a new doc and they freaked out about the diazepam. I was cut off, no support, no taper, just left on my own to sort it out. So let's just say I had to acquire diazepam from elsewhere... I'm sure you can fill in the blanks.
Luckily for me my tolerance hasn't increased much over the years and I've really worked to keep my daily use as low as I can. Although sometimes I treat myself to a really chilled weekend ;-) But in that time I've encountered all kinds of benzos. Some where just chalk, others fakes with something in (I use a testing service), and others were proper pharma. I find the whole process of checking out different benzos from different places really interesting. As a scientist by profession I've read medical literature about benzos. I also became a bit of a snob about only using the best benzos. You might almost describe me as a collector
I designed a very slow taper for myself, based on the work of Prof Heather Ashton, but then the pandemic happened. I was really paranoid about COVID - not so much about me, but passing it on to my elderly parents (and my Dad died of it early this year). So not really the time to taper. The world needs to calm down a bit!
Other stuff, I've experimented with other drugs at times. I had a coke addiction for a while and at another point was taking dangerous amounts of tramadol. I managed to stop both on my own, so dodged a bullet there.
Anyway, looking forward to meeting other "collectors" and nerds in this forum.
