So I take like 4-8 mg of klonpin a day. I'm down from 10 mg. I feel fine on 4. Haven't tried less yet. I have about 35 days until I fly out of town and am gone for a few weeks. I don't want to take anything with me on my trip. Is 35 days a viable option for detoxing? I don't mind mild withdrawals. I have a plethora of drugs I'm on from doct I can have with me (clonodine, so no seizures, tramadol, citalopram, lidocaine patches, lisonopril, ambein cr [12.5 mg], and amibilify).

say been on about a month, switched from 10-20 mg xanax a day =X. I spent 30 days clean from kpin and every day was worse than the last. My friend went into psychosis during his phase and lost a lot (house, wife, 2 cars) and they think he's permanently fucked. So I got back on.

Any ideas? If it can't be done I'll bite the bullet and CT for my trip, I'd like to make things as comfortable as possible, I'm curious if I can switch to say 2 mg a day for 2 weeks then 1 mg then hop off, if it'll still be hell or manageable?

I'm flying to florida though, might be able to get a legit script while there and be fine, I just don't want to count on it.

Benzo withdrawal is no joke. I was on klonopin for a very short time at reasonable therapeutic doses and had a complete psychotic break (first and only time in my life) when trying to come off of them. Not everyone has the same reaction of course, as some people are more prone it seems to horrible, protracted benzo withdrawal. I would cut the trip out of your plans man, you will not have fun or be comfortable at all....get to a doctor maybe to get prescribed some??? Be honest about it.... but do not even think about boarding that plane without any benzos... you will regret it and possibly even end up in a hospital/ psych ward.

Yeah I don't know what is up with everyone thinking they can just C/T a benzo habit, ESPECIALLY Klonopin... Not only can it kill you (and clonidine doesn't do shit for seizures by the way, you need something like Depakote or Topamax if you are talking benzo withdrawal) but if you come off of them too fast, you can end up in protracted withdrawal that can literally last for years.

A slow and deliberate taper is the only way to safely come off of them.

Also your Ambien will likely set off protracted withdrawal as soon as your levels of Klonopin drop below therapeutic. Ambien and Lunesta are both well-known to trigger protracted as are alcohol, barbituates, baclofen, phenibut, and other GABAergic medications.

Seriously, get a script. Don't play around.

To give you an idea... Some people cut Klonopin in .0625mg increments every week to every other week...

At 4mg, you're basically taking 80mg of Valium a day.

4mg of klonipin does not equal 80mg of valium really.kava can help the withdrawls.staying on the ambien with probly help the withdrawls more then not.

I suppose that Heather Ashton, the foremost authority on safely getting off of benzodiazepines is wrong. *eye roll*

Kava exacerbates withdrawal and I would taper off the Ambien before starting the benzo taper. You don't want to be on a narcotic sleeping pill when you're tapering.

If you want to get off GABAergic medications, the only way to do it is all of them. If you are planning on continuing with GABAergics just don't waste your time because you're going to end up in this situation again sooner or later.

You have to commit to abstain for a period of time from all GABAergics from alcohol to valerian and everything inbetween. That's the recipe for success. It has been proven time and time again. There are no shortcuts when it comes to benzos. Time and a proper taper followed by abstinence and more time is the only way to heal. Period.

I am just here to back up MagickalKat- 1mg of klonopin, ativan, xanax, is equivalent to 20mg valium....it is right in the Ashton Manuel..... great advice this guy is giving....listen ^^^^

4 to 8 mg of Klonopin per day? And you want out in 35 days? No way. Sorry ... I don't mean to pile on the other posts, here. But, you're getting sound advice above. I'd take it if I were you.
