Hi I've been on 60mg ER Morphine 2x daily and 15mg IR morphine 4x daily for breakthrough pain for over 5 years now.. Recently I've had to be switched to a pain Dr for my medications and they are planning on switching me off the morphine completely and starting me on oxycodone 15mg 4x daily.. My question is simply will I be suffering in pain from the switch of medicine and dose?? I'm very nervous about this so Any information will be appreciated thanks

IMO, I think it depends on how well your body chemistry broke down morphine.

60mgs of oxy IMO/IME, isn't close to the relief I would get from180mgs of morphine......plus, morphine pain relief lasts forever.

I think you're getting jipped, & all doctors know morphine is way better for pain relief than oxy.

I'm actually surprised that the pain doc would give you oxy over morphine, as more doctors are trying to get away from oxy.

Oxy for me does nothing for my back pain & actually makes my pain worse & causes severe headaches, but it may be different for you......but I would stick with morphine if I had a choice, which you don't from what you wrote above.

What kind of pain do you suffer from?
