Everyday I send him over an email or 2, briefly talk, and then have a 90 minute session every week.

WOW, I have learned so much about human interaction, what causes me to do things, and how I try and rationalize things, but when I'm so far off from what is really going on.

Commitment is bar one the most important aspect of life now in my opinion, and I never knew what it meant to be committed to something until maybe a few days ago.

A few notes that I wanted to share with the forum:

If you're trying to help someone, telling them what they're doing wrong isn't going to help them.

It is most beneficial for people to come to their own conclusions.

Q.How can you help?

A. By being supportive and asking questions leading them to their own discoveries.

I didn't think anyone could possibly understand me, or how I felt. I met with the therapist and he began to understand me!=D If you guys are willing to make an investment in yourself, I think for me it was money well spent.

Awesome stuff man. Finding a good therapist is huge. My therapist and I are hitting heads over forgiveness matters. But that being said - I'm sticking with it and I have learned things. The brain is a terrible thing to waste. Gl and keep it up.

I do have to say that I would disagree - i've seen interventions work, long term. But the bottom line is correct with what you are saying, if you want - do it - and you gotta come to that conclusion on your own. I dunno bout you, but I want it !

Sticking with it can be challenging at times, but good therapists are hard to find and should never be discarded lightly. And different styles of therapy suit different people.

Some people really need to have their thinking and behaviour challenged and good therapists adapt the therapy to fit the patient rather than trying to make every patient fit a set formula.

I'm glad you've found a therapist whose style suits you - in my opinion self awareness is never a waste of time.
