Misc Barbiturates-Primidone tablets- what is the recommended dose, new to barbiturates

Hello everyone, a couple of weeks ago I found out a friend could get me hooked up with something called Primidone, so I did some research on it.

It seems it is a drug in the barbiturate class, so I didn't expect much as I have a high tolerance to benzo's, but I was very wrong.

Yesterday I bought a pot of 50 tablets, 50MG each, and immediately I took 3. As I said I was not expecting much, but after about an hour and a half I was shocked- the only way I can explain it is that it was like I had been hit by a very strong benzo, but slightly different, almost "cleaner" to me in a way, having a drink without being drunk, very hard to describe but I very much enjoyed it.

I had to be careful with my co ordination and also had to put extra effort into speaking with my Mum, as I did not want to slur my words. I took two more over the course of the evening, and had a great nights sleep. I guess I had what was called the hangover effect, as I still felt a bit wonky when I woke up, but in a nice way.

From what I could find, primidone changes in the body somehow to Phenobarbital, although I am unsure what percentage of Primidone is changed to Phenobarbital, does anyone know?

Even if it was somehow possible that 100% of it turned into Phenobarbital, I would have taken 150MG to start with, which according to the psychonaut wiki is a common dose, leaning to the side of strong, but I doubt that much Primidone is converted into Phenobarbital so I probably had a much lower dose, which still worked fantastically I must add.

So really, before I experiment any more with these tablets, could someone give me an idea of a safe dose for Primidone- I understand I have the weakest strength tablets of Primidone available at 50MG, as they also come in 125 and 250MG tablets.

Really I would like to know what the safe maximum dose is for this drug, as it feels amazing. I see that titration is usually started at around 100MG a day, up to a maintenance dose of 750-1,500MG per day. I won't be going anywhere these numbers, but where it is a barbiturate and I know they have a more narrow therapeutic index it is best to ask to be safe compared to Benzo's.

Thanks everyone.

TL,DR

I know this much from my experience with barbs: be VERY careful. There's a fine line between feeling good and being in a coma-- or dead.

One minute I was walking, talking, feeling alert & happy...the next thing I knew it was four days later and I was on a ventilator in the ER.

OK, thank you for the warning. I was aware of the narrow therapeutic window with barbiturates, so a working dose is much closer to an overdose than with things like Benzo's.

I am very sorry to hear that happened to you, and am glad to hear you made it through it.

Hey @UK Warrior I've heard of your great King Charles, your selfless Prince Harry and his whore Lady Meghan. But who could forget the noble Prince Andrew friend to children everywhere.

Primidone (Mysoline) is a strange one. You would actually be the first person I've ever talked to who had genuinely positive things to say about their experience with the drug. It's believed that it's primary effects are a result of its metabolism into Phenobarbital. The rate at which a given dose of Primidone will be metabolized into Phenobarbital is dependent upon variables like genetics and/or drug interactions. It's commonly stated that the range is between ~15%-25% with most falling near the middle. However, Primidone also produces effects of its own independent of the Phenobarbital. I've read a decent amount of literature and it seems there are still some question marks regarding how this drug actually works.

Most folks find the drug to be sedating, yet also to cause unwanted side effects often described broadly as malaise. I've taken Primidone before maybe 6 times as I wanted to see what it was about and it's incredibly easy to get. I tried it the first time and had this uncomfortable body load in addition to feeling sluggish in a way that made me not want to get up at all. It took me a few more experiences before I realized the drug was just making me feel like shit by default. If you dig into it, you're likely to find most people had similarly neutral to negative experiences with the drug.

I ended up throwing what I had left away. It wasn't even good for sleep as I'd feel so sluggish and heavy in the morning it would defeat the purpose.

For the record, I've used Pentobarbital (Nembutal) and Phenobarbital (Luminal) before on different occasions. Pentobarbital was pretty cool. It'll get you fucked right up, that's for sure. Phenobarbital was not really useful for anything other than a sedative when I needed it, like after taking speed or something like that.

I really laughed about your explanation of our royal family, I loved it haha!

I see, I finished the tub of tablets I bought and can only confirm that I had a positive experience whilst using Primidone. Maybe I metabolise more into Phenobarbital than most people?

I did find it slightly sedating but in a nice way, like a very warm benzo, there was no malaise though. I honestly had none of the bad effects that you had from the drug, I was getting up and doing things like I would do on a large dose of Xanax but with much more warmth.

My experiences must be different to the majority of people, but then again I can't smoke weed- it effects me in the opposite way to most people and I have extremely negative experiences if I try to smoke it.
