a friend of mine got his hands on some barbiturat syrop preparation and is sure to try it. i know that this class is particulary risky but don't know much more to give him some harm reduction advice.
it contains per 5ml: 10.10mg phenobarbital, sodium bromide 85mg, potasium bromide 170mg, amonium bromide 113mg, valerian root tincture 282mg
is it at all adviceble to take such a combination(5 sedatives??) and what would be the maximum safe dose for this? i think he has 200ml

maybe i have put this in the wrong section... would basic drug discussion have been a better option ?

Is this like a premade product or specifically compounded for him? I've never heard of such a thing, what is it prescribed for, seizures (or is this a veterinary medication)?

Don't take more than the recommended amount and it will be fine. I don't think it would be recreational, or safe to take this any way but as directed. Bromism does not sound like it's worth risking, not even mentioning CNS depression issues.

Phenobarbital is a long-acting barbiturate, and thus crap for recreational purposes. Bromide has its own toxicity issues. At therapeutic dosage levels this should be an effective sedative-hypnotic (but I'm guessing this for anti-spasmodic purposes and will have a lower recommended dose), but acute intoxication probably will not be pleasurable.

Phenobarbital is used in lethal injections... so that should tell you something.

Normally it's thiopental or pentobarbital, isn't it?

that stuff sounds pretty funky. who would take that?? phenobarb is garbage and bromides have been way out of fashion in medical practice for almost a hundred years. the only thing in there that's innocuous is the valerian. i think your friend should consider more modern options like benzodiazepines.

thanks people thats what i was trying to tell him but he was still keen on doing it. hopefuly this thread will make him change his mind.

its a non perscription(wierd yeah?) medicine in my country. fucked up shit

the only thing in there that's innocuous is the valerian.
yeah like all the other stuff wasn't enough they had to add something natural too hahaha
