Hey guys,
If i took a bag seed, and germinated and starting growing them...how long would it be til i knew the strain and if it was Indica, Sativa or Hybrid???

Will i ever be able to tell the strain?
i know eventually i can tell if its indica or sativa....but just how long til ill know?

eh when bud has seeds in it that means there was a hermaphrodite or male plant present during female growth that pollenized the female's flowers..which greatly reduces her THC content. the resulting seeds are hermaphrodites and will produce low potency plants...assuming they germinate at all.

if you do decide to grow i'd recommend ordering feminized seeds from a seedbank. some strains are much easier to grow than others. i would start with something easy because growing weed isn't as easy as people think it is.

It has been proven that they COULD be hermaphrodite seeds, OR completely feminized. No one knows yet. But you're right, they could wreak havoc on some of your girls, if you don't check up on your bag seed babies.

Bag seed could be dirt, or gold.

You would be able to tell indica/sativa within the 3rd or 4th weed of vegetative stage.

chances are, you will never be able to tell the strain of the weed from bagseed.

In fact, it could be just bred by a local breeder, for commercial purpose and not even be one of the strains you can buy from seedbanks,

"local cuts" i've heard it refered to as. I know they have em everywhere

^^^^ exactly your best bet to grow somthing worthwhile and thatb will get you feeling greAt and sgtoned, Find your self a seed bank get yourself some seeds and grow it and take care of it, If you did it correctly you will have some killeer budz within a few months!!!:D

some of the best stuff ive seen grown came from bags of over-nuted crap, haha. The seeds could be all femmed. In terms of finding out what strain it is....doubt you will. The best you'll probably figiure out is if its more sativa or indica based, if its a haze quality, white quality, skunk.....very basic things.

After 30 days of 18/6 light cycle, turn over one of the leafs of the plant. The strain should be written there, along with whether it is an indica or sativa.

^ LOL

it can be hard to tell, but by about 3-5 weeks you should start to notice. indicas are shorter and more lush; their nodes are close together. sativa is the opposite. odds are the strain is a hybrid, in which case it's difficult to tell, but node spacing will give you the first idea of how long to flower for. my rule of thumb for bagseed is to give it more time if the nodes are ~3" or more apart, and watch the trichomes to see when they're ripe and ready to harvest :)

the whole idea on me growing bag seeds is so i can "test" the setup i have to see how well would work and if i needed to add/change anything before i dropped $50 on Seeds from *A Reliable Online Vendor*

Im still deciding what kind of seeds to purchase. Its almost definatly gonna be an Indica or Mostly Indica Hybrid...anyone has any personal suggestions then lemme know...

It is doubtful that you will ever be able to discern the strain. What you will be able to uncover is whether or not it is Sativa or Indica dominant. Indica's tend to be more short and stout. Sativas tend to be tall and lengthy with long, thin branches and leaf sites spaced out quite a bit. The "high" is noticably different as well. Indica's tend to be the more "couchlock" type whereas the Sativa's tend to be more psychadelic. Most strains, pure and bagseed, tend to be a mix of both. Some would say there are no true Sativas or true Indicas left.

In my first grow I used bag seed from a medicore bag of MJ. The resulting bud, however, was AWESOME. The resulting high has a lot to do with how the plant is cared for while it is alive and how the bud is dried, cured, and stored after it is harvested.
