Is Ativan stronger than Xanax?
I’m currently on Xanax 0.5mg/day and I’m wondering if Ativan is considered more stronger?

I know that Ativan half life is a bit long lasting than Xanax, but would Ativan effects be more stronger than Xanax?

1mg of alprazolam is equivalent to 2mg of lorazepam, so Xanax is the stronger one of the two.
I'd say Xanax is also more hypnotic and sedating in its effects. Their anxiolytic properties are pretty much the same in my book.

Thanks!

I’m looking at the benzo dosages comparison chart and that’s helpful as well.

Thanks again for the info!

Lorazepam is more muscle relaxing imo.

Its first line treatment for Epilepsy, after rectal Diazepam. Which did shit because the dosage was very low. Iv Lorazepam beats Diazepam up the bum.

I think IV Ativan beats oral Xanax as far as potency. Ativan is slightly weaker than Xanax when taken orally.

That’s why they always give IV Ativan for combative/violent patients in the emergency rooms.

But in terms of ORAL Ativan in tablet form, it’s slightly weaker than Xanax.
