Disclaimer: I am starting this thread in the spirit of fun and in an effort to foster understanding of ourselves and each other through the analysis of our natal charts. Any comments about how "astrology is bullshit/isn't a real science" should be taken elsewhere, start your own thread. TIA.

It seems a lot of Bluelighters have an interest in astrology, myself being one of them. There are loads of resources on the web for anyone who wishes to learn, but why not have ourselves a nice discussion about natal charts right here?

I have been informally studying astrology since I was in my early teens. I ran my natal chart for the first time a number of years ago and it never ceases to amaze me how accurate a portrait it paints of me. The more I get into the intricacies, the more enlightened I feel about my character. I now use Astrodienst (www.astro.com) to run charts because it's free, easy and flexible.

I've found that studying the charts of celebrities has helped me learn quite a bit. www.astrodatabank.com has a section called "Newsmakers" with bulletin board type comments from which I've learned a lot.

Here is my natal chart. Comments welcomed and appreciated, and please post your own for others to comment on!

I really have no idea how much interest there will be in this thread or what course it will take, but I think if enough of us participate it could end up being very cool. I'll post some more specific questions about my chart that I haven't been able to resolve later.

I'm looking forward to learning more about everyone. :)

^ shit that's impressive
here's mine

i hope the hotlinking stays up/works

i've been slowly reading bits here + there about astrology, but i don't really fully understand much about the chart yet...heh...although i've been looking at patterns of my friends' and there are things i've been noticing...

no dude not at all
i know a very cool guy whose chart has basically two points where all the planets are clustered, and they're right next to each other, and it looks a bit like yours

and he's one of the coolest people i've ever met
so no man that's a [funny kinda] compliment to you! :D

Im w/ u Mariposa....

My mom has always really been into astrology and kinda got me into it as well.....

Ive visited astro.com b4 and done my free reading or whatever and it describes me pretty well

Id say its about 80 - 90 % accurate about my personality

For people who arent really that familiar w/ those charts.....You can click on each section and it will describe ur personality thru diff planets, moons and stuff....

Very intresting...

such an interesting subject, I started to learn how to interpret charts but then I became lazy, have to start reading up on it again. Astrologer is on my top-ten list of dream professions!

Holy crap Mariposa!! You were born right where im from....Its only 10 min away from where i was also born:)

By the way, do you Mariposa, or anyone else have any books that you recommend for learning how to interpret natal charts? I love Linda Goodman's book 'Sun Signs' it's a like a lesser bible for me but as the title suggests it's only about sun signs... There's some good information on the net but I get kind of impatient when reading long passages on a screen, I'd rather curl up in the sofa with a book.

Haha Metairie isn't a hick town after all, is it? New Orleans gets all the glory. ;) I was born in Lakeside Hospital. :D Spent my formative years in SE LA, and we didn't drive into the city if we didn't have to. :D

Fuckin A, small world... if we all really want to get sophisticated let's do some synastry readings after the natal chart interpretations :D

Christian Soldier, I will get into this more when I'm not so tired but will say that you are very much an idealist with a vision for humanity. You're well-intentioned but perhaps you take the role of wounded healer too seriously. I say this because of your cluster (stellium) of planets in your 6th house at the placement it's in... are you difficult to please and do you have extreme impatience for idiocy, yet you seem to attract the same? I have Virgo rising too but being such a late degree it takes on strong Libra tendencies. So not only are you an idealist, but you beat the shit out of yourself over it and try to convince yourself it's OK.

More upon request and when I'm not so buzzed.

glitterbizkit- I will look up some books. Linda Goodman is a fabulous astrologer with a beautiful soul. I have learned much from her work and related to her as a fellow Aries woman. In the meantime, check out the Newsmaker section of www.astrodatabank.com. I have learned much by reading about the charts of celebrities. There are discernible patterns- check the chart of Condoleezza Rice for a contemporary example.

Good idea to get this thread going. I especially appreciate it, as it's aiding me in exploring something I've been delving into lately in a more solitary way. I'd like to address some things you mentioned in the gallery, however, because you seem to be a lot more educated in the matter of astrology than I am.

Keep in mind that my main interest, and that which finally drove me to exploring all this, is the possible nature of past lives as indicated by the natal chart, as well as the `where do I go from here?' question.

In the gallery, you wrote:

I find it interesting that your Nodes aren't aspected at all... I've learned that sometimes a lack of aspects can bring whatever celestial body lacks aspects into real prominence in a chart.

It was my understanding that nodes aren't aspected because they're not actual planets, but mathamatical points.

That Sun-Moon inconjunct must be a real bitch to deal with sometimes especially with your Pluto-Moon opp. I wonder how many past lives you've led... between the hard Saturn aspects and that 12th house Pluto whose only aspect is the opposition to your Moon, I'd venture to say it's not your soul's first time around.

This especially interests me... I began exploring my nodes to see if they resonated with my vivid but, of course, questionable `past life recollections'. I'm quite suprised by hell well it all fits (though at the same time I'm quite aware of the projective mechanism of our minds; either way, astrology is a good means of self-exploration, hopefully justifying the time I'm spending with it either way). I got distracted a bit by trying to understand my two stella, but now I'm currently exploring my retrograde Scorpio Venus in the 1st house and then I'll be moving to exploring my Pluto in Libra in the 12th. So if you'd explain in more detail what you've said in the quote portion above, I would appreciate it greatly...

ok... I was born in Ohio... which follows a different time zone than where i was taken back to a day later and grew up.. I live about a half an hour from this place.. and my mom went into labor closer to there I guess..

Indiana time this would be 9:03... so I don't know what to put it as.

you know? i'm gonna have to read more into this...

3 libras ;) that's a good sign i guess

rewiired- Interesting point you make about the nodes. I hadn't considered that but my North Node in Leo sits smack in the middle of my Mars and Jupiter. ;) It is listed on Astrodienst's aspect grid for each of these charts, including mine... and I've read various texts discussing aspects to the Nodes. They are mathematical points as opposed to celestial bodies, though- sorry for any confusion.

Interesting fact: your natal Moon is almost exactly conjunct mine. If we knew each other in real life, we'd either love or hate each other. ;)

I'll refer you to this link from MSN Astrology Groups for a more comprehensive explanation of a Sun-Moon inconjunct than I could provide. Here's a quote that I think sums it up rather well:

An inconjunct between the Sun and Moon gives a dormant, clandestine tension that does in fact produce a great sense of insecurity, although the native is only marginally aware of it. Something is quite likely to keep bothering him but he is unable to say what it is.

I'll do a little homework on the Nodes and aspects to them and get back to you. I'll see if I can relate it to your questions on past lives. Saturn can tend to represent karma, and yours has some pretty prominent squares.

Retrograde Venus in Scorpio in the 1st... well, Venus rules Taurus, opposite Scorpio, so it's in its detriment. It's retrograde which will tend to inhibit its full expression, but I'd put money on the facts that you're attractive, charismatic and that you tend to attract complicated people. There is a darker side to your sexuality.

Pluto in Libra is a placement that is common to our generation. The 12th house represents, among other things, karma. You are probably very hard on yourself and very attuned to your subconscious, especially since it opposes your Moon. Definitely watch out for overindulgence in drugs (also 12th house matters). This placement has a lot of potential and I think a good examination of it might reveal some of the past life issues you wish to explore.

Everyone whose chart is no longer up- the hotlinking from astrodienst doesn't last. Rerun it and upload it to the Bluelight Gallery! Hehe soon it will be overrun with natal charts, which should piss off the people who think astrology is bullshit. ;)

I'll post some comments an astrologer in a discussion group I belong to made on my chart later that were so spot on it was ridiculous.

i've heard though, from a pretty convincing (and unrelenting, maybe that's the only right word for it) friend that the actual plotting of the planets and stars is off by about 6 months.. because since the time of all of that, when this stuff was first plotted out, it's all changed.

Like I should be the 'opposite' of what i am right now.. but i'm not claiming this, only stating it because i can't have any engagement with this stuff aside from playing around unless i get that 'fact' out of me.

my friend has a way with just being a little too persistant in enforcing one thing he's heard.
