I really enjoy weed and have a California MMJ card, but I'm also interested in pursuing a career as an electrician. I don't plan on ever getting high on the job, but I have some questions: As an apprentice, are there drug tests after the initial one? Are the drug tests random/unannounced? Monitored? Do non-union electricians get tested? Are there exceptions for those smoking medically?

In short, do I have a chance of using cannabis with any sort of regularity as an electrician?

I think it would prolly depend on who you work for. If you're an electrician for some major entity like the City of Los Angeles, then you may be tested with greater frequency than if you were an electrician working for Joe Bob's Electrical Service.

there are prescription marijuana substitutes that are more acceptable, such as marinol.

I am union, work union when I am working in my halls scope of work, but when I am out side or negotiating do it on my own, start union stay union but get your ticket in canada... when ever I go to the states they think i'm a god of industrial
